Multi-Entity Financial Controller + Cross-Border Logistics Owner (contract)

We're a global medical device e-commerce business (CGM accessories) operating across 65+ countries with entities in Australia, the US and Ireland, plus multiple EU VAT registrations. We're looking for a financial controller to own our books and compliance — and to take ownership of the financial and operational side of how we move product across borders. This is a contract/fractional role, not a permanent full-time seat. It may run more intensively for the first couple of months while you get on top of things, then settle into a lighter, ongoing engagement. We're looking for someone who wants flexible, high-impact contract work — not a long-term salaried position. This role grows in three phases: Phase 1 — Own the finance, learn the logistics - Run the books across our AU, US and IE entities (multi-currency, multi-entity) - Manage EU VAT registrations and related compliance - Handle intercompany transactions and transfer pricing correctly - Keep everything clean, reconciled and audit-ready - In parallel, get hands-on with our shipping: booking shipments, raising labels, preparing customs and commercial-invoice paperwork, coordinating with carriers and 3PLs, reconciling shipped vs. billed Phase 2 — Own the cross-border goods mechanics - Take full ownership of landed cost, duty/VAT treatment, and intercompany pricing on stock - Become the single point of accountability for the money side of our logistics Phase 3 — Build and automate - Document the process into SOPs - Automate the repeatable, manual work - Hire and lead a small team to run logistics day to day, so you move from doing to leading We're upfront that Phase 1 involves real hands-on work. That's intentional — it's how you'll understand the business well enough to build and automate it properly. We're not looking for someone to do manual logistics forever; we're looking for someone to do it, master it, then engineer it away. Required: - Qualified accountant / financial controller - Proven multi-entity, multi-currency experience - Strong grasp of transfer pricing and cross-border VAT - Experience setting up or supporting new legal entities - Comfortable being hands-on before building a team Strongly preferred: - Physical-product or cross-border e-commerce background - Understanding of landed cost and customs Bonus: - Direct shipping, freight or 3PL/fulfilment experience To apply, please tell us briefly: (1) the entity structures you've managed and in which jurisdictions, (2) your experience with transfer pricing, and (3) any hands-on logistics or physical-product experience you have.
