PROJECT BRIEF: Unscripted — Wordmark Logo What this is: Unscripted is a premium YouTube documentary series about professional wrestling history. The format is Ken Burns meets 30 for 30 — cinematic, authored, serious. This is not a fan channel. This is a media brand built to compete with The Ringer, The Athletic, and ESPN Films in terms of production quality and editorial credibility. The subject matter is wrestling. The treatment is journalism. What I need: Six wordmark concepts. Just the word UNSCRIPTED — no icons, no submarks, no mascots. Typography only. Each concept should feel distinct from the others and represent a genuinely different creative direction. I am not looking for variations on a theme — I want six real options I can choose between. The six directions I want explored: Prestige television — Dark field. Heavy serif or high-contrast serif. The kind of typography you'd see on an HBO or Netflix title card. Authoritative. Cinematic. Feels expensive. Editorial / print — Clean sans-serif. Think newspaper masthead energy. The kind of wordmark The Atlantic or The Ringer would use. Confident without being loud. Works equally well in black on white and white on black. Documentary film — Something that feels like it belongs on a festival documentary poster. Possibly mixed weight — a light typeface with one element that anchors it. Restrained. Intelligent. Tension / contrast — Play with the irony built into the word itself. UNSCRIPTED applied to a scripted sport. Explore what that tension looks like typographically. Crossed-out letters, strike-through treatment, a word that looks like it's fighting itself. One bold creative swing. Minimal / modern — Ultra-light weight. Maximum letter-spacing. Almost disappears into the background. The kind of mark that signals confidence through restraint. Think luxury brand territory. Bold and ownable — Something that could live on a hat or a t-shirt and be immediately recognizable. Heavier weight, tighter spacing, something that works as merchandise from day one. Deliverables for each concept: Show it on a white background Show it on a black background Show it at thumbnail scale (roughly 200px wide) so I can see how it holds up small Color: Present everything in black and white only for now. We will discuss accent color as a second step once a direction is chosen. References to study before you start: 30 for 30 title sequences and packaging The Ringer wordmark and editorial typography Ken Burns documentary title cards — specifically The Civil War and Baseball HBO and Netflix prestige drama title treatments The one rule: It has to work as a still image on a YouTube end card. No motion, no animation dependency. It lives or dies as a static mark. What success looks like: I show this wordmark to someone who has never heard of professional wrestling and they immediately understand this is a serious, premium media brand. That is the bar.
