Summary

Rooftop Support CFD & Structural Analysis Project Project Overview I have developed a rooftop HVAC support system, similar to the Durablok shown in the accompanying picture, utilizing an aluminum structural body and elastomeric roof-contact interface. The design is finalized and ready for engineering analysis and validation. The objective is to evaluate structural performance, stability, and wind-loading behavior using CFD and FEA tools (preferably OpenFOAM and Salome-based workflows). A competitor product photo will be provided to illustrate the general product category. CAD files will be provided to selected candidates after mutual determination that the project is a good fit. ________________________________________ Scope of Analysis The selected analyst will be expected to evaluate: • Maximum compressive capacity • Wind-induced displacement and stability • Sliding and overturning thresholds • Stress distribution and failure modes • Contact pressure at roof interface • Temperature effects on performance • Failure progression of major components ________________________________________ Expected Deliverables • Parametric failure matrix summarizing load limits and governing failure modes • Stress, displacement, and contact-pressure plots • Wind-pressure and stability analysis outputs • Engineering assumptions document • Basic mesh verification/convergence evidence • Complete project files sufficient for future reproduction of the work • Brief recommendations for physical validation testing ________________________________________ Candidate Qualifications Please describe: 1. Your experience with OpenFOAM, Salome, Code_Aster, CalculiX, ANSYS, or similar tools. 2. Any experience involving: o Contact mechanics o Elastomer/rubber materials o Structural FEA o Wind loading or CFD 3. How you would approach this project. 4. Examples of similar work, if available. Hourly engagement. Long-term collaboration is possible if the initial phase is successful. Last question: Have you previously modeled elastomeric materials (EPDM, neoprene, rubber, polyurethane, etc.) using hyperelastic or viscoelastic material models? If so, please describe the project and the material model used.
