Online Aerospace Engineering Instructor

Research Ignited is looking for a friendly and engaging instructor to teach our new Aerospace Engineering & Mission Design Lab for middle and high school students. This is a live online program where students explore aviation, drones, satellites, and space mission design through simple explanations, visual examples, simulations, and a final capstone project. We are looking for someone who enjoys explaining STEM topics in a clear and exciting way. You do not need to be a certified teacher. You just need to be comfortable working with younger students and making aerospace feel fun and understandable. What You’ll Teach Topics may include: How airplanes fly: lift, drag, thrust, and airfoils Aircraft systems, cockpit instruments, and propulsion basics Aviation weather, navigation, and safety decisions Drones, autonomous flight, and AI in aviation Satellites, orbits, CubeSats, and space mission design Student capstone mission projects What You’ll Do Teach live online sessions for students in grades 7–12 Use visuals, examples, simulations, and simple activities Help students understand aerospace concepts without overwhelming them Guide students as they create a final mission design project Provide light feedback and encouragement Work with the Research Ignited team to improve the course Good Fit For This role may be a good fit for students, graduates, or professionals with a background in: Aerospace engineering Mechanical engineering Physics Aviation or flight training Drones or robotics Space systems or satellites AI, autonomy, or computer vision STEM teaching, tutoring, or outreach Helpful but not required: teaching/tutoring experience, flight experience, FAA Part 107, private pilot license, CFI experience, NASA/aerospace project experience, or drone/satellite project experience.
