Operations Systems Consultant / Fractional COO (Construction & Field Service) About Us Michiana Concrete & Excavation is a rapidly growing concrete flatwork and excavation contractor based in Northern Indiana. We specialize in high-end residential concrete, commercial flatwork, apartment communities, and large-scale property management clients. We currently operate multiple field crews and serve residential, commercial, industrial, and manufactured housing communities. Our company has grown quickly because we've focused on producing exceptional work and taking care of customers. Now we've reached the point where our systems have not kept pace with our growth. That's where you come in. The Problem We're Trying To Solve I'm the owner. Right now... Everything lives in my head. Every customer. Every estimate. Every crew schedule. Every concrete order. Every invoice. Every follow-up. Every commercial relationship. Every decision. Our business has outgrown operating this way. I'm not looking for someone to simply answer emails or enter data. I'm looking for someone to help me build the operational foundation of a company that can eventually operate without everything depending on me. What Success Looks Like Within the first 90 days, I'd like us to build the foundation of our operating system. Examples include: • Audit our current operations. • Learn how our business currently functions. • Map every major workflow. • Identify bottlenecks. • Configure and optimize Jobber. • Help implement scheduling inside Jobber. • Build SOPs. • Create accountability systems. • Recommend technology where appropriate. • Build dashboards. • Help create our Operations Manual. • Help transition work from the owner to administrative staff. About Our Current Systems Current software includes: • Jobber • Google Workspace • QuickBooks • ChatGPT Current reality: Very little is documented. Many processes exist only inside the owner's head. Scheduling is largely managed mentally instead of through software. This is exactly what we want to change. What We Need From You We're looking for someone who has experience helping growing service businesses build operational systems. Ideally you've worked with businesses like: • Concrete contractors • Excavation companies • Landscaping companies • Roofing companies • HVAC • Plumbing • Electrical contractors • Construction companies Field-service experience is far more valuable than startup software experience. What You'll Actually Be Doing Examples: • Shadow the owner. • Document existing processes. • Ask questions. • Challenge inefficient workflows. • Build repeatable systems. • Recommend operational improvements. • Organize documentation. • Build onboarding material. • Help us hire and onboard our future Executive Assistant. • Help us eventually remove administrative work from the owner's plate.
