Paid Editorial Audition: Voice Preservation Edit

We are inviting selected finalists to complete a short paid sample edit for a nonfiction leadership/personal development manuscript. This is a one-chapter paid editorial audition. The fee is $50. The manuscript is in its final editorial stage. We are not looking for a rewrite, ghostwriting, or a heavy developmental edit. The goal is a Voice Preservation Edit: tightening grammar, clarity, flow, repetition, and consistency while protecting the author’s natural cadence, tone, lived experience, faith language, humor, and message. This book was developed through 9 months of in-depth interviews, transcripts, strategy, and an AI-assisted/human-edited process. AI was used as part of the development workflow, but the voice, stories, message, and editorial direction are human-led and author-centered. The book has also been read by three Trusted Readers. The sample edit should demonstrate the ability to: Preserve the author’s voice and rhythm. Improve clarity without over-polishing. Respect the AI-assisted, human-led development process already in place. Avoid rewriting the manuscript into a different style. Disclose any AI-assisted tools used in the editing process. Provide brief editorial notes explaining the editorial approach. Deliverable: One edited chapter with tracked changes/comments and brief editorial notes.
