Part-Time HR Consultant (Quarterly Reviews, Employee Development, Light HR Ops)

We are a small but growing IT services company (8–10 employees) looking for an experienced HR consultant to help us formalize and execute our employee review and development processes. This is not a full-time role - we’re looking for someone who can step in periodically, bring structure, and ensure we stay consistent and compliant. Key Responsibilities: - Lead and facilitate employee reviews (quarterly, with a larger annual review cycle) - Create and standardize a repeatable performance review process - Gather employee feedback (career goals, concerns, growth path) - Help define and track employee development plans (certifications, performance goals, career progression) - Ensure accountability on follow-ups (check-ins, progress tracking, etc.) Provide practical HR guidance that balances compliance with business needs (not overly restrictive) What We’re Looking For: - Experience supporting small teams (startup / SMB environment preferred) - Strong background in performance management and employee development - Able to drive structure and accountability without heavy bureaucracy - Practical, solutions-oriented (can align business goals with HR best practices) - Familiar with California employment considerations (nice to have) Engagement Model: - Estimated: ~1-2 weeks per quarter + light periodic check-ins - Heavier involvement during annual review cycle - Remote / flexible Goal: - Help us retain and develop our team by bringing consistency, direction, and accountability to our HR processes - without adding unnecessary complexity.
