## Job Title **Part-Time Mechanical Engineer / Fabricator Needed to Assemble 14” x 14” x 84” closed loop environmental control system. ## Job Description ***Part-time mechanical engineer or experienced mechanical fabricator*** to assist with the assembly of the an **Environmental Control System — ECS**. This is a hands-on build project. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working from CAD drawings, STEP files, mechanical layouts, and assembly instructions. The candidate should also have access to the necessary tools to complete the ECS assembly, light fabrication, fitting, mounting, drilling, fastening, and system integration work. The ECS includes the air handling, filtration, UV-C reactor housing, blower mounting, ducting, and related mechanical components for the system. ## Project Scope The contractor will assist with: * Assembly of the ECS module * Installation and mounting of blower, filter stack, UV-C reactor, ducting, and mechanical supports * Light sheet metal or aluminum fabrication where required * Drilling, fastening, riveting, cutting, fitting, and mechanical alignment * Reviewing and following CAD drawings, STEP files, and assembly instructions * Coordinating with the design team on any required build adjustments * Identifying missing parts, fitment issues, or manufacturability concerns * Helping prepare the ECS for integration into the full system ## Required Skills The ideal candidate should have experience with: * Mechanical engineering or mechanical assembly * Prototype fabrication * HVAC-style air handling systems * Sheet metal, aluminum, or light industrial fabrication * Blower/fan mounting and ducting * Filter housings or air filtration systems * Basic electrical/mechanical integration awareness * Reading CAD drawings, STEP files, and BOMs * Hands-on troubleshooting during prototype assembly ## Required Tools / Capabilities Candidate should have access to some or most of the following: * Drill press or quality hand drills * Rivet gun / nutsert tool * Sheet metal tools * Cutting tools * Deburring tools * Measuring tools / calipers / squares * Clamps and assembly fixtures * Basic shop tools * Ability to modify aluminum, sheet metal, brackets, and mounting hardware A small local shop or garage-based fabrication setup is acceptable, provided the candidate can perform clean, accurate work. ## Preferred Location Preferred candidates are located near, but not limited to: **Charlotte, NC / Fort Mill, SC / Indian Land, SC / Concord, NC / Rock Hill, SC** Local or regional candidates are preferred because this is a physical prototype assembly project. Remote engineering-only applicants should not apply unless they have a local fabrication partner. ## Time Commitment This is a **part-time project-based position**. Initial work may be approximately **10–20 hours per week**, depending on availability and project progress. ## Compensation Hourly or fixed-price proposals will be considered.
