Phase 1 Feasibility Study — Custom Handle Integration for Certified Electrical Tool
Worldwide
Job Description I am seeking an experienced mechanical/electronics integration engineer for a Phase 1 feasibility study on a professional-grade hand tool project. Familiarity with IEC 60900 insulated hand tool standards or IEC 61010-1 measurement equipment standards is essential — candidates without experience in high-voltage certified equipment design should not apply The scope is a written feasibility report only — no prototype build required at this stage. The project involves assessing whether a miniaturised electronics assembly can be integrated into a custom injection-moulded handle while maintaining certified insulation ratings, structural integrity, and ingress protection. The handle has a defined ergonomic profile that cannot change. The study also needs to assess alternative internal cavity assembly methods and their compatibility with the relevant IEC safety standards. Ideal candidate • Experience with PCB and electronics integration into injection-moulded plastic components • Familiarity with IEC safety standards for hand-held electrical equipment • Understands creepage and clearance requirements for high-voltage rated tools • Experience with both potted and non-potted electronics enclosure approaches • Can assess assembly method trade-offs from both manufacturing and compliance perspectives Phase 1 deliverable - Written go/no-go feasibility report Budget - $1,000 AUD fixed price Timeline - 1–2 weeks NDA - Required before project specifics are shared Ongoing potential - Phases 2–5 available for successful Phase 1 candidate ($9,500–$19,000 AUD) Location preference - Australian-based engineers strongly preferred. Must be available for video calls during AEST business hours.
