Project Cashflow Modeller - Excel Expert

We are a consulting firm that supports Indigenous governments in negotiating agreements with resource companies. Our work helps communities understand, challenge, and negotiate the economics of large projects — mines, pipelines, hydro facilities, and other major capital projects — that affect their territories. We are hiring a senior-level cashflow modelling specialist to help us build rigorous, transparent project cashflow models that directly inform negotiation strategy. This is expert-level, high-impact work with real consequences for communities. RESPONSIBILITIES - Build discounted cashflow (DCF) models for large capital projects (primarily mines) based on agreed templates, with emphasis on project economics, revenues, costs, taxes, royalties, and revenue-sharing options for third parties - Reconstruct project economics from technical reports, company disclosures, life-of-mine (LOM) summaries, and incomplete project materials - Identify data gaps and inconsistencies, run sensitivities and scenario analyses, and identify key value drivers - Prepare negotiation-ready outputs including Excel dashboards, assumption logs, sensitivity tables, valuation summaries, and concise technical notes - Work independently with limited supervision, using judgment to handle imperfect or missing data REQUIREMENTS - Extensive hands-on experience building cashflow models for large capital projects, dozens of completed models minimum, with significant mining exposure - Expert-level proficiency in Excel DCF modelling, scenario and sensitivity analysis, and data extraction from technical documents - Ability to extract and interpret inputs from NI 43-101 reports, feasibility studies, LOM plans, company disclosures, and royalty/tax frameworks - Degree in finance, economics, engineering, or geology (an MBA or equivalent is an asset for those from technical backgrounds) - Professional written and spoken English - Availability to overlap with Canada Eastern Time (ET) business hours, morning or afternoon HOW TO APPLY - Please submit your proposal with the following: - A brief description of your experience building asset-level cashflow models, specifically for mines or major capital projects - Examples of relevant models or projects (a brief description is fine if confidentiality applies) - Your typical hourly rate and current availability for part-time work
