Quant developer

Quant Developer — Polymarket Edge Research & Trading Bot : What this is I want to build an algorithmic trading operation on Polymarket and I'm hiring a quant developer to do the specialized work: find a real, defensible edge in Polymarket data, and build the bot that trades it — pipeline, signal, execution, and risk, end to end. This is not a "scrape some data and hope" role. I understand the mechanics — CLOB orderbooks, UMA optimistic-oracle settlement, maker rebates, orderbook arbitrage — and I know what I'm funding and why. What I want is someone sharper than me on the statistics and execution side who can pressure-test ideas, find where the edge actually is, and ship a bot that runs. The most important thing: I only hire people who show proof of work. Read the Proof of Work section before applying. Applications without it get ignored. What you'll build Data pipeline — Pull and store live + historical data from Polymarket (CLOB API, Gamma API, on-chain settlement data) plus relevant external feeds (exchange data, oracle sources, real-world data depending on the market category). Edge research — Identify and statistically validate at least one inefficiency. Document the hypothesis, the EV math, the sample size, and the conditions under which it breaks. Trading bot — Build the execution engine: order placement via py-clob-client, position sizing (Kelly or a justified variant), latency handling, fill management, and kill-switches. Risk + monitoring — Position limits, drawdown controls, alerting (Telegram or similar), and a simple dashboard to watch live state. Deployment — Run reliably on a VPS (DigitalOcean/AWS), including any geo-restriction handling. The exact market category (e.g. short-duration BTC binaries, weather/temperature markets, sports, news events) is open — part of your job is to tell me where the edge actually is, with data. Required skills Strong Python and real backtesting discipline (you know the difference between a backtest and overfitting, and you can prove it). Direct experience with py-clob-client or comparable orderbook/market-making code. Solid grasp of Polymarket / CLOB microstructure: orderbook mechanics, maker vs. taker, rebates, slippage, resolution risk. Statistics that hold up: edge estimation, variance, position sizing, and honest treatment of sample size and survivorship. WebSocket / real-time data handling and low-latency thinking. Comfortable deploying and maintaining a bot on a remote server. Nice to have Prior live PnL on Polymarket, Kalshi, or Predict.fun (with verifiable wallet history a major plus). Experience with UMA oracle settlement timing and the manipulation/TWAP fixes. Familiarity with frameworks like pm-hftbacktest. Experience reverse-engineering profitable wallets on-chain. Proof of work (read this — it's the whole filter) I weight demonstrated ability over résumés. To be considered, send one or both of the following: 1. A past edge you've actually run. Show me a strategy you've backtested or traded live. I want to see: The hypothesis in one sentence. An equity/PnL curve, hit rate, and sample size. Sharpe or a comparable risk-adjusted number. One paragraph on why the edge exists and what would kill it. Redact specifics if you must, but the methodology has to be real and legible. 2. A small scoped task (paid if it takes real time — tell me up front). Pull recent data from the Polymarket CLOB/Gamma API for a market category of your choice. Find one candidate inefficiency. Send me a short writeup (1–2 pages) with: the data you used, the edge hypothesis, a rough EV calculation, and the main risk that could make it fake. I'm not looking for a finished bot — I'm looking at how you think and whether your statistics are honest. What gets you rejected instantly: "I can definitely find an edge, trust me" with no evidence. A backtest with a beautiful curve and no mention of sample size, fees, or slippage. Claiming a strategy works without being able to explain why the inefficiency exists. If you can't show proof of work, you're not the person for this role — and that's fine. How to apply Send: Your proof of work (above). A 2–3 sentence note on which Polymarket market category you think has the most exploitable edge right now, and why. Your rate and availability. Keep it short. I'd rather read a tight writeup with one real backtest than a long cover letter.
