Registered Canadian Trademark Agent — Clearance Search + Filing (Word Mark)

ABOUT THE PROJECT: We're launching a healthcare clinic in Vancouver, BC and need to clear and register a trademark for our business name (a word mark) before investing in branding and signage. We're looking for a registered Canadian trademark agent to handle this properly. IMPORTANT — PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING: You must be a registered Canadian trademark agent listed with CPATA (the College of Patent Agents and Trademark Agents). Please state your CPATA registration status in your proposal. Applications that don't address this will not be considered. We will verify registration against the public CPATA register before hiring. SCOPE OF WORK: 1. Clearance search + written opinion - A full availability search, not just a CIPO database lookup (we've already run the basic database search ourselves) - Assess likelihood of confusion with existing registered and pending marks - Check for common-law (unregistered) uses, particularly in healthcare/medical services in Canada - Provide a written opinion on registrability and risk 2. Application filing + prosecution (if search is clear) - File the application with CIPO in the appropriate Nice class(es) — likely Class 44 (medical/clinic services), possibly also Class 41 and Class 5 - Advise on the correct goods/services descriptions - Manage correspondence with CIPO, including responding to any examiner objections, through to registration WHAT TO INCLUDE IN YOUR PROPOSAL: - Your CPATA registration status / number - Relevant experience with Canadian trademark filings (healthcare/medical services a plus) - Your fee for the clearance search + written opinion - Your fee to file and prosecute the application (flat fee strongly preferred), separate from CIPO government fees - Estimated timelines for each stage We understand CIPO government fees are separate and paid directly. We'd like to start with the clearance search, then proceed to filing if the result is favourable. We'll share the specific name and business details with the selected candidate once CPATA registration is confirmed.
