Remote Legal Cashier / Bookkeeper — Solicitors' Accounts (Ireland) An established sole-practitioner solicitors' practice based in Cork seeks an experienced, dependable legal cashier to take ownership of its client and office accounts on a remote basis. This is a specialist solicitors'-accounts role, not general commercial bookkeeping — applicants without direct legal-accounts experience will not be considered. We are looking for someone who already knows solicitors' accounts thoroughly: the Solicitors Accounts Regulations 2023, the proper handling of client money, and the discipline of keeping the books current, reconciled and audit-ready without supervision. Responsibilities Maintain client and office ledgers; post all receipts, payments and transfers accurately and promptly Carry out regular three-way reconciliations (client bank account, office records and matter balances) in accordance with the Solicitors Accounts Regulations 2023 Record disbursements and outlays and apply correct VAT treatment at matter level Maintain the breach register and raise any compliance concern immediately Complete month-end routines and produce management and compliance reports Keep residual balances and dormant matters in good order Prepare records for the annual Reporting Accountant's Report and any Law Society Financial Regulation requirements or inspections Essential criteria Demonstrable, recent experience in Irish solicitors'/legal accounts under the Solicitors Accounts Regulations 2023 (or the prior 2014 Regulations). This is non-negotiable; commercial bookkeeping experience alone is not sufficient. Working knowledge of Klyant legal accounting software (strongly preferred); familiarity with Clio case management an advantage Meticulous, self-directed and reliable — able to keep the books current and accurate without prompting or close oversight Absolute discretion; willingness to sign a confidentiality and data-processing undertaking (GDPR) Clear, responsive communication during Irish business hours Engagement Remote, [20hours per week / flexible] Ongoing engagement [Rate competitive, commensurate with experience] To apply Please provide a short covering note setting out your solicitors'-accounts experience, the accounting and case-management software you have used, and your availability. Reference your specific experience with the Solicitors Accounts Regulations.
