Reverse Engineering & CAD Design: Precision FDM Component (Fixed + Performance Royalty)

We are an independent aftermarket product brand based in Australia, and we are looking for a talented Mechanical Engineer or Industrial Designer to join us for an exciting, ongoing product design project. We are developing a sleek upgrade for a premium electric vehicle. We love smart, functional engineering and are looking for a collaborative partner who shares that passion! The Project: We will purchase and ship an official factory plastic OEM trim component directly to your location. Your task will be to reverse-engineer its precise mounting points, bolt hole alignments, and geometric curves using digital calipers. You will modify the design to create a beautiful, aerodynamic external utility and display enclosure.The goal is to keep the exterior looking like a premium, factory-molded component, while engineering precise internal tolerances to keep sensitive areas perfectly protected. What We Are Looking For: High proficiency in parametric CAD software (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or Shapr3D) with clean STEP file delivery.A strong understanding of Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM) so the part prints beautifully on a textured FDM bed with minimal support material. Experience or comfort working with engineering materials like ASA, TPU, and Carbon Fiber Nylon.A Huge Plus: If you personally own an electric scooter or high-end e-bike and have a functioning, enclosed FDM printer to test-fit physical prototypes on your desk!Compensation & Partnership Structure: We are launching this product lean and want to build a rewarding, long-term relationship with our designer rather than just a one-off transaction. Milestone 1 ($35 USD): Paid immediately upon delivery and physical validation of the final, error-free STEP file. Phase 2: Prior to project kick-off, we will sign a formal contract granting you a recurring $7 USD manufacturing royalty for every single physical unit sold and shipped globally using your validated design.The Performance Cap: To keep things fair and structured, the royalty remains active up to a lifetime cap of 500 units sold (totaling a $3,500 USD bonus pool). Once reached, 100% of the digital file ownership and rights remain with our brand with zero ongoing fees.
