Senior AWS DevOps / Cloud Infrastructure Engineer AWS Security and Scalability Specialist for a Real-Time Trading Platform *****Applications that only state "I worked on a similar project under NDA" without providing technical details will not be considered.*** About the Role We are looking for a highly experienced Senior AWS DevOps / Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of an established AWS production environment supporting a live, real-time trading platform. Our infrastructure is already built and running in production. This is not a build-from-scratch role. Your responsibility will be to continuously improve the platform's security, scalability, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency. This role is for someone who understands that every second matters in a trading environment. Downtime during market hours, infrastructure instability, security vulnerabilities, or poor scalability can directly impact traders and business operations. We are looking for an engineer who has successfully operated mission-critical, high-availability AWS environments and understands the operational demands of real-time trading systems. Mandatory Requirements Trading Platform Experience (Required) To apply, you MUST have recent hands-on experience supporting the AWS infrastructure of a live trading platform or a closely related financial system. Examples include: Stock trading platforms Brokerages Exchanges Futures or options trading platforms Forex platforms Cryptocurrency exchanges Market data systems Order Management Systems (OMS) Other real-time financial applications General AWS website hosting or standard SaaS experience alone is not sufficient. Working Hours (Required) This position supports a live production trading platform. You must be available during U.S. Eastern Time business hours. Required availability: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM Eastern Time (EST/EDT) Available for deployments, troubleshooting, production support, and collaboration during these hours. Occasional availability outside business hours may be required for planned maintenance or critical production incidents. If you cannot consistently work during these hours, please do not apply. Responsibilities Review and improve the existing AWS architecture Strengthen AWS security across the environment Improve infrastructure scalability and resiliency Identify and eliminate single points of failure Improve platform uptime and reliability Optimize EC2 Auto Scaling Groups Optimize Application Load Balancers and Target Groups Improve RDS performance and availability Improve Redis/ElastiCache performance Strengthen backup and disaster recovery strategies Improve monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability Review IAM permissions and implement least-privilege access Improve network security, VPC architecture, and Security Groups Review CloudFront, WAF, Shield, and Route 53 configuration Improve CI/CD deployment processes Troubleshoot production incidents and perform root-cause analysis Work closely with frontend and backend engineers Recommend architecture improvements following AWS best practices AWS Cost Optimization Reducing AWS operating costs is one of the primary objectives of this role. You will be expected to: Review current AWS spending Right-size EC2 and RDS resources Improve Auto Scaling policies Optimize Load Balancers Reduce storage and backup costs Reduce unnecessary networking and data transfer costs Eliminate unused AWS resources Recommend Savings Plans and Reserved Instances Build cost monitoring dashboards Deliver measurable monthly cost savings Cost optimization must never compromise security, reliability, or platform availability. Required Technical Skills Minimum 5 years of hands-on AWS DevOps experience Strong hands-on experience with: Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling Groups Application Load Balancers Target Groups VPC Route 53 CloudFront IAM Security Groups AWS WAF AWS Shield CloudWatch CloudTrail Systems Manager AWS Backup RDS ElastiCache / Redis S3 Secrets Manager KMS Docker Linux Administration Terraform or CloudFormation GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Security Experience (Required) You must have practical experience with: AWS Security Best Practices IAM Least-Privilege Access Infrastructure Hardening Network Security VPC Segmentation Secrets Management Encryption at Rest and in Transit Web Application Firewall (WAF) DDoS Protection Vulnerability Management Security Auditing Incident Response Backup Validation Disaster Recovery Planning Scalability Experience (Required) You must have proven experience designing and operating highly scalable AWS environments.
