Senior Earthwork Estimator / Mass Grading Specialist (Heavy Civil Construction)

About Us We are a heavy civil contractor specializing in large-scale earthwork, mass grading, underground utilities, paving, and concrete construction throughout the United States. We are looking for experienced earthwork estimators who understand dirt. Not building estimators. Not residential estimators. Not quantity surveyors. We need professionals who can review grading plans and immediately understand cut/fill balances, haul distances, production rates, equipment spreads, trucking requirements, import/export quantities, and project execution strategy. This is a long-term opportunity for the right individual. What You’ll Be Doing * Perform complete earthwork takeoffs from civil plans and grading sheets. * Analyze cut/fill quantities and develop mass haul strategies. * Calculate import/export requirements. * Develop production-based estimates for: * Excavators * Dozers * Motor Graders * Scrapers * Compactors * Articulated Trucks * Water Trucks * Loaders * Review geotechnical reports and earthwork specifications. * Build detailed bid estimates and quantity workbooks. * Evaluate trucking logistics and haul routes. * Coordinate with project managers and estimating staff. * Assist in bid preparation and proposal development. Required Experience Minimum 3 years estimating heavy civil earthwork projects. Must have experience with: * Mass grading * Cut/fill calculations * Import/export balancing * Earthwork production rates * Equipment costing * Trucking and hauling operations * Reading grading plans * Utility plans * Geotechnical reports Software Experience Experience with some or all of the following: * AGTEK * Trimble Business Center * Civil 3D * Bluebeam * HeavyBid * HCSS * InEight * Excel (advanced) Minimum Requirements * Fluent English * Reliable internet * Dedicated workspace * High-performance computer * Strong attention to detail * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Preferred Background We strongly prefer candidates who have worked for: * Heavy Civil Contractors * Earthwork Contractors * Site Development Contractors * Mass Grading Contractors * Utility Contractors Field experience operating or managing earthmoving equipment is a major advantage. Success In This Role You should be able to look at a grading plan and quickly answer: * Is this project cut or fill dominant? * What is the estimated import/export quantity? * What equipment spread should be used? * What is the most efficient haul strategy? * What production rates are realistic?
