Senior Freight Forwarding & CargoWise Domain Expert (AI Product Advisory)

About Us We are building an AI-native SaaS platform for the freight forwarding industry that sits between the operational inbox and the Transportation Management System (TMS). The platform uses AI to understand freight communications, automate routine operational workflows, and intelligently route exceptions to human operators. The product is currently in active design and development, and we are looking for an experienced freight forwarding domain expert to help validate workflows, challenge assumptions, and ensure the product aligns with real-world operations. What We Are Looking For We are seeking a highly experienced freight forwarding professional with deep operational knowledge and hands-on experience with CargoWise or another leading Freight Forwarding TMS. This is not a software implementation role and not a CargoWise configuration project. We are looking for someone who can act as a domain advisor during product design and architecture discussions. Required Experience Applicants should have 10+ years of experience in one or more of the following: Ocean Export Operations Ocean Import Operations Air Freight Operations Freight Forwarding Operations Management CargoWise Implementation / Solution Architecture Freight Forwarding Process Design Digital Transformation within Freight Forwarding Transportation Management Systems (CargoWise preferred) Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable: CargoWise Magaya Descartes BluJay / e2open Logitude Other enterprise freight forwarding systems Scope of Work The engagement will be conducted on an hourly basis as required. Typical activities include reviewing and discussing: Freight Forwarding Operational Workflows Booking lifecycle Shipment execution Documentation Customer service Exception handling Ocean export/import workflows Air freight workflows Product Validation Review proposed product capabilities and answer questions such as: Is this how freight forwarders typically operate? Does this functionality normally belong in the TMS? Would an operations team actually use this workflow? What operational exceptions are missing? How would different freight forwarders handle this scenario? Which decisions are customer-specific versus industry standard? CargoWise / TMS Guidance Provide guidance on: Standard CargoWise capabilities Operational master data Customer master Rate management Carrier allocation Booking workflows APIs Integration boundaries Industry best practices AI Workflow Review Review proposed AI-driven workflows and help determine: Which activities can realistically be automated Which activities should remain human-driven Operational risks Compliance considerations Exception scenarios Practical deployment considerations Ideal Candidate We're looking for someone who: Thinks beyond day-to-day operations Enjoys solving product and process problems Can challenge assumptions rather than simply answer questions Has worked across multiple freight forwarders or multiple CargoWise implementations Understands operational transformation Is comfortable discussing architecture at a business level Engagement Model Hourly consulting Flexible schedule Long-term engagement (as needed) Regular product review sessions Confidential project Important Note This engagement is focused on product strategy and domain expertise rather than software implementation. You will be working directly with the product founder to review workflows, validate product decisions, and help ensure the platform reflects real-world freight forwarding operations.
