Senior Identity & Access Management Lead – Okta Modernization & Google Domain Transition

We are looking for a senior IAM expert to take ownership of a high-stakes identity transformation project. The client is undergoing a major brand refresh which includes a full Google Workspace domain migration, and at the same time they are modernizing their identity architecture around Okta. This is currently in the assessment phase, and we need someone who can step in immediately to define the strategy and then execute it hands-on. The environment is complex with over 100 applications already integrated with Okta, so a careful, phased approach is critical. The client is also shifting to a hybrid workforce model, which means security, automation, and seamless access are top priorities. We need someone who can treat this as a comprehensive identity dependency review and build a detailed migration roadmap from there. This role is a true player-coach position, meaning you will set the vision, design the architecture, and also get deep into Okta Workflows, SCIM, and API integrations to make it all happen. Key Responsibilities You will lead the overall identity architecture, ensuring Okta acts as the primary identity provider while integrating tightly with Google Workspace. You will design and execute a phased rebranding and domain migration strategy, which includes dependency mapping, pilot group coordination, and cutover planning to avoid disruption. Automation is a big part of this role, and you will build out automated joiner-mover-leaver processes using Okta Workflows and SCIM provisioning to reduce manual work and improve accuracy. You will also strengthen security by enforcing MFA, zero trust principles, and adaptive access policies across the entire ecosystem. Beyond that, you will create custom integrations using Okta APIs, PowerShell, or Python to connect identity with the broader SaaS and internal application landscape. Finally, you will act as the technical authority, communicating complex plans clearly to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Required Experience You must have at least five years of hands-on experience with the Okta Identity Cloud, including advanced configuration of SSO using SAML and OIDC, as well as MFA policy design. We require proven experience leading a Google Workspace rebranding or domain migration project in a complex environment with 100 or more integrated applications. Deep expertise in Okta Workflows and SCIM provisioning is essential, as is proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell or Python, along with building API integrations. You also need experience with the Okta Access Gateway. Strong communication and leadership skills are a must, since you will be guiding the project through a sensitive transformation that affects the entire organization. Preferred Qualifications It would be a plus if you hold Okta Certified Consultant or Administrator credentials. Experience with Okta Advanced Server Access is also beneficial, as is familiarity with hybrid identity environments involving Active Directory or Azure AD. Knowledge of JumpCloud and security frameworks like SOC 2 or NIST would be an added advantage. Ideal Candidate Profile This role is best suited for a senior architect who is equally comfortable defining long-term IAM strategy and diving into complex Okta workflow creation. You should be proactive, automation-driven, and security-minded. You need to be confident enough to lead a multi-faceted identity project independently from the assessment phase all the way through to execution, while also being willing to get your hands dirty with the technical details when needed.
