Senior Lighting Shop Drawing & Fixture Substitution Specialist (Commercial / Architectural Lighting)

Job Description We are a growing lighting company seeking a highly experienced lighting professional to support commercial and architectural lighting projects across North America and Europe. This is NOT an entry-level position. We are looking for candidates with real-world experience working for lighting manufacturers, lighting distributors, electrical contractors, electrical consultants, or architectural lighting firms. The ideal candidate must be capable of independently reviewing construction drawings, analyzing luminaire schedules, matching specified fixtures to equivalent products, preparing professional shop drawings, and handling project revisions and change orders with minimal supervision. Applications without relevant project examples will not be considered. ________________________________________ Responsibilities • Read and interpret: o Electrical drawings o Interior design drawings o Architectural drawings o Landscape drawings o Reflected ceiling plans o Lighting plans o All relevant construction/project documentation required to identify specified fixtures • Review and extract information from luminaire schedules • Compare specified fixtures against our company catalog and determine the best matching alternatives/equivalents • Analyze fixture specifications, performance, dimensions, optics, mounting methods, and electrical requirements • Prepare and complete professional lighting shop drawings based on product specifications • Review and process project change orders • Identify alternative fixtures for revised specifications and value engineering requests • Revise shop drawings based on project changes • Enter approved fixture alternatives and project information into Excel spreadsheets • Maintain organized and accurate project documentation ________________________________________ Required Experience • Proven experience working on lighting projects in the USA, Canada, or Europe • Strong understanding of commercial and architectural lighting products • Strong electrical knowledge • Experience reading construction and lighting drawings professionally • Experience working with luminaire schedules and fixture specifications • Experience preparing lighting shop drawings • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines ________________________________________ Preferred Industry Background • Lighting manufacturer • Lighting distributor • Electrical contractor • Electrical consultant • Architectural lighting firm • MEP drafting/design ________________________________________ Preferred Software Experience • AutoCAD • Bluebeam • Adobe Acrobat • Excel • PDF markup software • Lighting specification software experience is an asset ________________________________________ Preferred Manufacturer Knowledge Candidates familiar with manufacturers such as the following are strongly preferred: • Acuity Brands • Lithonia • Cooper Lighting • Philips / Signify • Zumtobel • Axis Lighting • Eureka • Lumenpulse • Focal Point • Peerless • Amerlux • Lucifer Lighting • Etc. ________________________________________ Candidate Must Provide Please include the following with your application: • Resume or relevant project history • Examples of completed projects • Sample shop drawings • Fixture substitution examples • Software proficiency • Availability • Hourly rate Candidates must be comfortable explaining previous projects and discussing technical lighting and electrical details during the interview process. ________________________________________ Additional Information • Long-term ongoing work available • Strong communication skills required • Candidate must be detail-oriented and technically strong • Paid technical test task may be required during hiring process We are looking for experienced professionals only who can contribute immediately with minimal training.
