Senior Mechanical Engineering - Product Industrialisation

Sonexos SA is a Swiss deep-technology company based in Lausanne, developing Plasmapanel® — an active sound-absorption platform now progressing from mature engineering concepts towards repeatable, scalable manufacture. We are engaging a senior mechanical engineer on a part-time consulting basis. This is hands-on mechanical engineering, not programme management. You will develop and refine 3D models, engineering drawings and mechanical schematics (we work in SolidWorks); optimise components and assemblies for volume manufacture; define tolerances, fits and joining methods; select materials and processes; and prepare designs for tooling and production release. You will also work directly with our component manufacturers and tooling suppliers to resolve the engineering detail needed to make the product robust and manufacturable, and coach our internal engineers on DFM and product engineering — we want to build capability, not dependency. The product is a compact, multi-material electromechanical assembly. Relevant process experience includes metal forming and fabrication, plastic moulding, sealing and bonding, mechanical integration of wiring and electronics, and the optimal joining and fit of precision parts. Part materials span engineering polymers and metals, potentially extending to glass and ceramics. Strong experience designing metal parts for volume manufacture is a particular plus. Further technical detail is shared during the selection process. Must-haves: - Degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline, with substantial industrial experience taking complex products from detailed design through DFM and tooling into controlled serial manufacture - Proficiency in SolidWorks, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and production-level engineering drawings - Ability to work regularly on-site in or near Lausanne, Switzerland — this is essential; remote-only proposals cannot be considered - Authorisation to work or contract in Switzerland, or an appropriate cross-border arrangement - Fluent English (our working language) Engagement: part-time consulting contract; the level and pattern of engagement is flexible and will be agreed together, running through our industrialisation programme. In your proposal, please identify specific products for which you held meaningful engineering responsibility through the transition from detailed design into tooling, pilot production and serial manufacture, and confirm your availability for regular on-site work in the Lausanne area.
