Senior Property Claims Adjuster / Insurance Denial Consultant Needed for Rental Property Claim Job Description I am seeking an experienced **senior property claims adjuster, former insurance adjuster, or insurance claims consultant** to review a disputed rental-property insurance claim and help strengthen the claim presentation following a denial. This is a **limited consulting engagement** focused on claims strategy, evidence review, coverage analysis, and preparation of a clear reconsideration or escalation package. I am looking for someone who understands how carriers evaluate property and liability claims, how denial decisions are developed, and how to identify weaknesses in an insurer’s reasoning or gaps in the underlying investigation. This is **not a request for legal representation**. I am specifically seeking an experienced claims professional who can review the file from an adjuster’s perspective. ### Scope of Work The selected consultant will: * Review the applicable policy and endorsements. * Review the carrier’s denial and stated basis for the decision. * Review the timeline of the loss and claim handling. * Review relevant communications with the insurer. * Review photographs, videos, repair records, maintenance information, invoices, and other supporting documentation. * Evaluate whether the evidence supports or conflicts with the carrier’s stated denial theory. * Identify missing evidence or documentation that would materially strengthen the claim. * Identify unsupported assumptions, inconsistencies, or investigative gaps in the carrier’s handling of the claim. * Explain how an experienced adjuster would normally analyze the facts and coverage. * Recommend the strongest factual and claims-based arguments for reconsideration or escalation. * Help organize the evidence into a concise, persuasive claim package. * Draft or substantially revise a final written reconsideration or escalation response using appropriate insurance-claims language. * Identify what should not be included because it is irrelevant, speculative, emotional, or likely to weaken the presentation. ### Claim Background The matter involves a **third-party rental-property damage claim** arising from a water-loss event involving a tenant and a washing-machine drainage component. The carrier denied the claim based largely on a theory involving deterioration and gradual conditions. There is substantial documented property damage, and the file includes competing facts concerning the condition of the component, the cause of the loss, subsequent events, maintenance/repair history, and the carrier’s interpretation of those facts. The purpose of this engagement is to determine whether the current evidence has been presented as effectively as possible and whether the denial rationale is fully supported by the available claim record. Specific identifying claim information will be provided to the selected consultant. ## Documents Available for Review The file may include: * Insurance policy and relevant endorsements * Denial correspondence * Claim communications * Timeline/chronology * Photographs and videos * Maintenance and repair records * Contractor or repair documentation * Invoices and documented damages * Tenant-related factual information * Prior submissions to the carrier ## Ideal Background Strong candidates will have: * Significant experience handling property claims * Experience with renters, landlord, dwelling, or property-liability claims * Experience evaluating or writing coverage denials * Experience reviewing disputed or denied claims * Knowledge of causation, ensuing/consequential damage, wear-and-tear exclusions, maintenance issues, and water-loss claims * Strong ability to distinguish evidence from assumption * Excellent written communication * Ability to explain how the file will likely be viewed internally by an insurer * Prior experience as a senior adjuster, claims supervisor, claims manager, independent adjuster, public adjuster, or comparable claims professional ## Deliverable I am looking for a concise final work product, not a lengthy generic report. The engagement should result in: **1. Claim assessment** What is strong, weak, missing, or vulnerable in the current file. **2. Denial analysis** Whether the carrier’s stated position appears supported by the evidence provided and what areas warrant challenge or clarification. **3. Evidence recommendations** What additional documentation, if any, should be obtained before further escalation. **4. Strategy recommendation** How an experienced claims professional would present the matter for reconsideration. **5. Final written response/package** Help draft or revise a professional, evidence-based escalation or reconsideration submission. ## When Applying Please answer: 1. How many years have you handled property insurance claims? 2. What types of property or liability claims have you handled? 3. Have you personally written, reviewed, or approved claim denials? 4. Have you assisted with disputed or denied claims after leaving carrier-side adjusting? 5. What would you review first when evaluating whether a water-damage denial is adequately supported? 6. How would you approach a denial involving alleged wear, deterioration, or gradual damage when there was also a specific loss event? 7. Please describe one similar matter you have reviewed without providing confidential client information. 8. Are you comfortable helping organize and draft a concise reconsideration package after reviewing the evidence? 9. What would you need from me to begin? Do not apply if you do not have relevant experience. Please do not contact me outside of Upwork for consideration.
