Senior Textile Print Designer — 3 Bold/Dark Fashion Prints for new brand

Summary

Hi, I’m launching a womenswear brand in India. The aesthetic is bold, femme fatale, Roberto Cavalli-inspired, dark, maximalist, dangerous. Think early 2000s editorial: Sex and the City meets Devil Wears Prada. Black-dominant. I need an experienced surface/textile designer for 3 original fashion prints. Two of the three prints are related and need to work as a deliberate design conversation with each other. I will be closely involved throughout — I have a clear vision, detailed moodboards, and I give fast feedback. I need someone who executes at a genuinely high-end level and takes precise creative direction. ──────────────────────── THE 3 PRINTS ──────────────────────── Print 4 — Butterfly placement print (full dress) A dark, femme fatale butterfly print for a full-length dress. The reference world is vintage Roberto Cavalli — rich, maximalist, deeply feminine but dangerous. This is not a pretty butterfly print. It should feel like something a woman wears when she wants to be remembered. Dark base, deep jewel tones — think black, deep scarlet, rich midnight tones with high-contrast butterfly motifs. The butterflies should feel alive and intentional in their placement across the garment, not scattered or repeated mechanically. Full garment placement composition. Print 5 — Butterfly corset variation (deliberate contrast) A variation of Print 4 designed for a structured corset panel that sits over the waist of the dress. This is not a continuation of the dress print — it is a deliberate contrast. Same print family, same butterfly language, but treated differently: tighter, bolder, more compressed to suit the corset scale. When the corset is worn over the dress, the two prints should feel like they are in conversation — related but distinct. This requires strong compositional thinking about how the two pieces interact on the body together. Print 6 — Floral (collaborative direction) A dark, maximalist floral — realistic or graphic, both directions are open and we will decide together based on moodboards. This one is more collaborative than the other two. I will share references on hiring and we will align on direction before you begin. Must live firmly in the Scarlet world — not soft, not romantic, not pretty. Dark, confident, editorial. ──────────────────────── PLACEMENT & COMPOSITION ──────────────────────── All three prints are placement prints — one large, complete composition per garment. Not repeat tiles. Each print must feel intentional and complete across the full garment with no awkward edges, cut-off motifs, or visible start and end points. For Prints 4 and 5, the composition must be considered across both pieces as they appear on the body together — even though they are deliberately distinct. Prints must read beautifully on a moving, draped body. High-end execution is non-negotiable. ──────────────────────── FABRIC NOTES ──────────────────────── Each print will be digitally printed on fabric — base fabric varies per piece (mix of crepe, satin, and similar womenswear fabrics, to be confirmed after factory visit). As part of your application, please advise which base fabric you would recommend for each print direction and how that affects your colour and saturation decisions. Final colour values may need minor adjustment after fabric strike-offs — one of the 3 revision rounds is reserved for this purpose. Files must be delivered in a format that allows colour layer edits (layered PSD or AI). ──────────────────────── DELIVERABLES (per print) ──────────────────────── — Placement composition sized to garment scale — sketches, measurements and references provided upfront — High-resolution PNG at 150 DPI minimum, print-ready — Layered source file (PSD or AI) for colour adjustment at strike-off stage — For Print 5 (corset): composition shown in context of how it sits over Print 4 on the body — Up to 3 revision rounds included in your quote (1 reserved for post-strike-off colour adjustment) ──────────────────────── WHAT I'M PROVIDING YOU ──────────────────────── — Sketches and garment references for all 3 prints — Comprehensive moodboard per print — Brand reference world: Roberto Cavalli, Blumarine, Versace, dark editorial fashion. Rat and boa, Ohpolly have similar designs as well. — For Print 6: active collaborative direction — we align on the concept before you begin — Daily availability for fast, clear feedback throughout ──────────────────────── TIMELINE ──────────────────────── First drafts within 5–7 days of receiving the full brief. Final files by day 10. This is a firm deadline — factory trip immediately follows. ──────────────────────── WHO I'M LOOKING FOR ──────────────────────── — Portfolio showing complex, maximalist fashion print work at garment scale — placement compositions, not surface repeats — Demonstrated ability to work with dark, rich, layered colour palettes — Strong compositional thinking — especially for multi-piece garments where prints interact on the body — Experience with womenswear, luxury, or editorial fashion brands — Comfortable with direction-heavy, iterative process — I know what I want and communicate it clearly — High-end execution standard — this is a premium brand brief — Responsive — quick turnaround on feedback is essential throughout
