Shopify Front-End, Email & Catalog Maintenance Specialist About the Role We are a design-focused furniture retailer seeking a reliable, detail-oriented specialist for ongoing Shopify front-end updates, monthly email template support, and catalog maintenance. This is primarily a maintenance and production role rather than a branding or creative-design position. You will work within our existing website, catalog templates, email layouts, and visual guidelines to keep all materials accurate, polished, and consistent. The engagement will be ongoing and billed hourly. Tasks and estimated hours will be discussed and assigned as needed. Some weeks may require more support around launches or larger updates, while others may require fewer hours or no work. Core Responsibilities Shopify Front-End Maintenance * Maintain and update our existing Shopify website and theme * Update product pages, collection pages, landing pages, navigation, metafields, imagery, and website content * Make front-end edits using Shopify Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JSON * Troubleshoot formatting, spacing, responsiveness, and display issues * Ensure updates work correctly across desktop and mobile * QA links, layouts, product information, and visual consistency before publishing Occasionally, we may require more substantial website changes or redesign work. These projects will be discussed separately, with clear creative direction, scope, and estimated hours provided in advance. Monthly Email Template * Prepare or update approximately one email template per month based on a provided design * Update text, imagery, links, buttons, formatting, and product information * Code or adjust responsive HTML email templates when required * Test emails across desktop and mobile * Work within our existing email marketing platform and brand guidelines Catalog Maintenance * Maintain and update existing digital and print catalog files * Replace or add product imagery * Update product names, descriptions, dimensions, materials, specifications, and pricing * Make minor formatting and layout adjustments within the established catalog template * Update product tear sheets, specification sheets, and designer collection materials * Add new products and remove discontinued information * Prepare files for digital distribution and print The initial catalog update may be a larger one-time project. After that, the work will consist of ongoing maintenance and smaller periodic updates. Image and Asset Updates * Crop, resize, retouch, and color-correct product imagery when required * Optimize files for Shopify, email, digital catalogs, and print * Maintain organized file names, folders, linked images, and version control * Check image resolution, color profiles, bleed, and export settings Work Structure * Ongoing, part-time freelance engagement * Work will be billed at an agreed and consistent hourly rate * Tasks and estimated hours will generally be discussed and approved weekly * Busier weeks may require approximately 5–20 hours * Lighter weeks may require approximately 2–8 hours or no work * Availability around product launches and important catalog or website updates is preferred Required Skills * Experience maintaining Shopify themes and storefronts * Working knowledge of Shopify Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JSON * Experience updating Shopify templates, sections, blocks, metafields, and product pages * Experience coding or editing responsive HTML emails * Strong proficiency across Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat Pro * Experience maintaining catalogs, lookbooks, tear sheets, or specification documents * Ability to make precise text, formatting, and image updates within established templates * Understanding of print-ready and web-optimized file preparation * Strong attention to detail, organization, and file management * Ability to follow existing brand guidelines and creative direction * Clear communication regarding estimates, progress, and completed hours Preferred Experience * Familiarity with Shopify CLI and Theme Check * Experience with Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Shopify Email, or a similar platform * Experience working with furniture, interiors, architecture, art, or luxury brands * Familiarity with product specifications, dimensions, materials, and pricing sheets * Experience managing linked assets and packaged InDesign files To Apply Please include: * Your portfolio or website * Two or three examples of Shopify websites you have maintained or updated * An example of a coded or maintained email template * Two or three examples of catalogs, lookbooks, tear sheets, or product documents you have maintained * A brief explanation of your Shopify front-end, HTML email, and Adobe Creative Suite experience * Your proposed hourly rate * Confirmation that you can maintain a consistent hourly rate for an ongoing engagement * Your general availability and typical turnaround time Please clarify which parts of the work you handle personally and whether any portion would be outsourced.
