Shopify - Web Content Specialist

Build the Digital Experience Behind One of America’s Fastest-Growing Luxury Wellness Brands The Sauna Place is building one of America’s leading luxury wellness companies. We design and sell premium saunas, steam rooms, cold plunge systems, and custom wellness spaces — combining real craftsmanship with a modern e-commerce engine. We were named to the 2024 Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies, and we are scaling toward a $100M+ business over the next few years. For most customers, our website is the company. It is where trust is built, products are evaluated, and buying decisions happen. We are investing heavily in making that experience feel as premium, reliable, and intentional as the products themselves. We are hiring a Web Content Specialist with strong Shopify experience to help build and maintain that engine. This is not a passive publishing role. It is a hands-on operational role at the center of our digital storefront experience — ideal for someone who takes pride in clean execution, sharp attention to detail, and building systems that scale. The Opportunity You will own the daily execution that keeps our Shopify storefronts polished, accurate, conversion-focused, and operationally reliable. This role is best suited for someone who already understands how Shopify works and can confidently manage products, collections, metafields, navigation, apps, and theme-related workflows. You’ll publish products, build collections, manage menus, edit themes in staging, coordinate app workflows, prepare bulk imports, ship blog content, and maintain the details that separate a premium e-commerce experience from an average one. You will work AI-assisted by default. ChatGPT and Claude are part of our daily workflow — not as shortcuts for quality, but as tools to accelerate execution, organization, troubleshooting, documentation, and problem-solving. We are looking for someone who is already comfortable using AI as a core part of how they work. This role is important because the small details matter here: + The filter that works perfectly + The metafield structure that helps customers find the right sauna faster + The collection logic that makes navigation intuitive + The product page that publishes correctly the first time + The staging edit that ships cleanly without disrupting the storefront We are looking for someone who genuinely notices those things — and cares enough to fix them. What You'll Own Product Listings & Collections Build and maintain product pages, collections, metafields, and navigation structures that publish accurately on the first pass. Create collection structures, smart filters, and metafield systems that improve navigation and product discovery. Site Structure & Theme Execution Manage menus, navigation, merchandising layouts, and staging theme edits. Maintain strong QA discipline and ensure updates ship cleanly with minimal storefront disruption. App Stack Operations Support the day-to-day execution of our Shopify ecosystem, including tools like Okendo, Cin7, Matrixify, Avis Options, and Smart Filter. Keep systems organized, stable, and predictable. Bulk Data & Import Workflows Prepare and manage imports, exports, spreadsheet cleanup, and product data operations using Matrixify and Google Sheets. Work should be reliable, reversible, and audit-friendly. Image Preparation Handle resizing, formatting, and basic AI-assisted image preparation to ensure storefront visuals are clean and presentation-ready. Operational Visibility Maintain clear communication around priorities, blockers, timelines, and review status so projects move smoothly without constant follow-up. Who Will Thrive Here You will probably love this role if you get genuine satisfaction from turning messy systems into clean ones. You notice the typo in a sub-bullet. You catch the broken filter before someone reports it. You care whether a collection page feels intuitive. You like organizing product data correctly the first time instead of fixing preventable mistakes later. That wiring is a strength here. You are likely someone who: + Enjoys operational execution and craftsmanship + Works well independently without disappearing + Communicates proactively and clearly + Moves quickly without sacrificing accuracy + Is comfortable balancing structure with changing priorities + Likes using AI tools to improve throughput and organization + Has a strong understanding of Shopify and enjoys working inside the platform daily + Takes pride in building reliable systems behind the scenes You may not enjoy this role if you strongly prefer strategy over execution, or if you want narrow ownership over a single marketing channel. What Success Looks Like + Products publish accurately with minimal cleanup loops + Customers find products faster because collections and filters were built intentionally + Theme edits move through staging cleanly with strong QA standards + Bulk imports complete successfully and reliably + Blog content ships on schedule with proper formatting and SEO basics in place + The Shopify ecosystem stays organized, stable, and proactively maintained + Stakeholders trust that details will be handled carefully and consistently Why This Role Matters As The Sauna Place scales toward a $100M+ business, the quality of our digital experience becomes increasingly important. This role is part of the operational foundation behind that growth. For the right person, this is an opportunity to become deeply embedded in a fast-growing premium e-commerce company, work closely with a high-performing team, and grow into broader ownership across site operations, merchandising, and digital commerce over time. Job Requirements Required + 2+ years of hands-on Shopify administration, content management, or storefront operations experience + Strong experience with collections, smart filters, metafields, and theme editing in staging + Experience with Matrixify or similar import/export tooling + Comfort with at least two of the following: Klaviyo, Okendo, Cin7, Avis Options, Smart Filter, or similar tools + Strong Google Sheets skills for cleanup and data preparation + PDF extraction and editing experience + Strong written English + Familiarity with blog publishing, meta descriptions, and on-page SEO basics + Basic image editing using AI tools and standard editors (Canva, Photopea, Photoshop, or similar) + Daily working fluency with ChatGPT and Claude, including using AI to improve productivity, organization, research, troubleshooting, and workflow execution + Strong task management and proactive communication habits + Reliable internet and a workspace that supports focused remote work Nice to Have + Squarespace experience + Light HTML or Shopify Liquid familiarity + Experience supporting US-based e-commerce or DTC brands + Familiarity with GA4 or basic site analytics + Order management experience within Shopify or connected ERP systems + Experience managing larger Shopify catalogs with extensive collections, metafields, and filtering structures Logistics & Compensation Type: Full-time remote contract through Upwork Location: Fully Remote Hours: Required overlap with US Central Time from 8am–12pm CST.
