Summary

Project Overview I need an experienced solar / electrical / structural engineer to review my existing stamped solar plans and help design a safe expansion of both the ground-mount and roof arrays. Current System Ground Mount: 40 × LG340N1K-V5 panels with Enphase IQ7+ microinverters on IronRidge XR1000 racking Roof: Existing LG340N1K-V5 panels (quantity to be confirmed from plans) Ground-mount combination panel located at the array Feeder from ground-mount combination panel to house: 1/0 AWG Aluminum, approximately 200 feet Then transitions to 4 AWG copper for the final ~50 feet inside the basement Roof: Two existing 10 AWG copper home-run cables (strings) that go directly to the combiner panel in the basement Location: Lisbon, Connecticut (snow load and wind load are important) Planned Changes Move all existing 340W panels currently on the roof down to the ground mount. Add 15 new panels to the ground mount: 10 panels as a new top row 5 panels on the right side of the existing array Add 5 new panels to the roof. Final configuration goal: All ground-mount panels = LG340N1K-V5 (or equivalent 340W) All roof panels = LG325N1C-A5 What I Need from You Electrical Review Confirm whether the existing 1/0 AWG aluminum (200 ft) + 4 AWG copper (50 ft) feeder can support the expanded ground-mount system after the panel moves and additions. Review the two existing 10 AWG copper roof home-runs and determine how to best add the 5 new roof panels (new string vs adding to existing, trunk cable needs, etc.). Calculate total AC current, voltage drop, and ampacity for the final system. Identify any required upgrades to feeders, combination/combiner panels, breakers, busbars, or main service panel (including 120% rule / line-side tap considerations). Review array-side AC trunk cables and branch circuits for both the ground mount and roof. Structural / Mechanical Review (Ground Mount) Determine if the existing IronRidge posts and foundations can support the added 15 panels (10 on top + 5 on the side) under Connecticut snow and wind loads. Advise whether additional posts/piers are required or if the existing posts can be reinforced. Provide recommendations for rail extensions, additional mid/end clamps, UFOs, or any other IronRidge hardware needed. Confirm the new layout maintains proper structural integrity, clearances, and tilt. Deliverables Written summary of findings (electrical + structural) Clear list of required modifications (if any) Updated material / BOM list for the expansion (rails, posts, clamps, electrical components, etc.) (for the ground mount only) Marked-up plans or simple sketches showing the recommended layout and any required changes What I Will Provide Full set of existing stamped solar plans (PDF) Photos of the current ground mount, roof array, and combination/combiner panels Any additional information you request Preferred Qualifications Experience with ground-mounted PV systems (IronRidge experience strongly preferred) Strong knowledge of NEC Articles 690 & 705 Experience with Enphase microinverter systems Ability to evaluate structural loading (snow + wind) for ground mounts in the Northeast / Connecticut Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is a plus Budget & Timeline Please provide your estimated fixed price or hourly rate and expected turnaround time in your proposal. I am ready to start as soon as I find the right engineer.
