Sound Designer & Audio Editor for Cinematic, High-Tension Independent Film
Worldwide
I am looking for a highly skilled, artistic Sound Designer and Audio Editor to collaborate on the soundscape for Scene #1 of my independent film, Our Lady of the Rock. This is a 5-minute, high-contrast, slow-burn opening sequence set in the Mojave Desert in 1881. It is shot entirely on a locked-off tripod and features a brutal, rhythmic beating, a heavy physical struggle, and a cocky, clinical monologue delivered by our lead character. If this trial scene goes well, there is an immediate opportunity to expand this contract to the remaining scenes of the film (which eventually transition into high-tension, abstract sci-fi/cosmic dread). Key Responsibilities for Scene 1 Dialogue Editing & Cleaning: Clean up and balance the production dialogue (recorded on location in the desert). This includes handling heavy breathing, groans, a whispered prayer, and a loud, brayed monologue. Tactile Foley & SFX: Create the heavy, wet, sickening impacts of a brutal physical beating, the breaking of bone, the rustle of heavy clothing, the handling of a leather-and-steel revolver, and the grit of sand under boots. Atmosphere & Wind Design: Build a living, empty, and oppressive Mojave Desert wind environment that acts as the primary bed of the scene. Clear Communication: I have a background in creative direction and sound, so I will be giving very specific, technical, and atmospheric feedback. I need someone who can translate creative notes into concrete sonic changes. Deliverables Fully edited, cleaned, and balanced dialogue and ambient tracks. Stereo and split-track stems (Dialogue, Foley/SFX, Atmosphere) for Scene 1. Please submit your portfolio!
