Statistical Process Control Assessment Review & Improvement – Subject Matter Expert (U.S.-Based)

We are looking for a qualified Subject Matter Expert (SME) based in the United States to review and improve an existing pre-hire assessment question bank in the area of Statistical Process Control (SPC). You will review an existing question bank (approx. 90 questions). The project includes editing, improving, and, where necessary, rewriting content to ensure clarity, practical relevance. You will also develop an assessment blueprint describing the skills and competencies measured (template will be provided). The objective of this project is to develop a high-quality assessment question bank evaluating practical and theoretical knowledge of SPC concepts, tools, and methodologies as applied in U.S. manufacturing, quality, and process improvement environments. ------------------------------------------------------ Responsibilities • Review an existing set of assessment questions. • Edit and improve questions for clarity, accuracy, and real-world relevance. • Rewrite questions when substantial revisions are needed. • Develop approximately 40% new questions (with new graphics as needed) to replace content that no longer meets quality or relevance standards. • Ensure the assessment reflects practical, everyday use of SPC concepts, tools, and methodologies. • Create an assessment blueprint outlining the competencies measured, topic coverage and weighting, and the rationale behind the assessment structure. Additional Responsibilities • Work in a Microsoft Word template to review, edit, and develop assessment questions. • Incorporate feedback and revisions as needed during the review process. ------------------------------------------------------ Goal The goal is to ensure the assessment is practical, clear, up-to-date, and suitable for pre-hire screening across roles requiring everyday proficiency with SPC tools. Using our Test Blueprint template, as a final step, you will select final set of 40 questions to serve as the completed assessments. ------------------------------------------------------ Preferred Qualifications Educational background: • Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Data Science • Industrial, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering • Operations Management or a related quantitative discipline Professional experience: • Hands-on experience implementing or managing SPC programs in U.S. industry • Practical knowledge of control charts, process capability analysis, and variation reduction • Familiarity with AIAG SPC Manual (2nd or 3rd edition) and related standards • Ability to translate deep technical expertise into clear, accurate assessment content • Excellent command of English Additional assets: • Experience in technical training, instructional design, or certification content development • Previous involvement in creating exams, assessments, or question banks • ASQ certifications (CQE, CSSBB, CSSGB, CMQ/OE) or Six Sigma Black Belt / Master Black Belt credentials • Proficiency in Minitab, JMP, or similar statistical software • Background in regulated industries (automotive, aerospace, pharma, medical devices) ------------------------------------------------------ Deliverables • Revised and updated question set. • Newly developed questions with new graphics as needed (approximately 40% of the assessment). • Completed assessment blueprint. If gaps are identified, you may be asked to draft new questions for underrepresented topics and strengthen sections that lack sufficient coverage. (paid separately) ------------------------------------------------------ Cooperation Model Work will be conducted in close, ongoing collaboration with the Content Specialist. Regular consultations and feedback rounds are expected throughout all stages of the project. ------------------------------------------------------ Timeline Planned project duration: 3–4 weeks. ------------------------------------------------------ Tools Expert is expected to use provided templates.
