Subject Matter Expert (SME) & Data Operator — Professional Accounting Exam Question Bank
Worldwide
Project Overview We are building a premium EdTech assessment platform focused on high-stakes professional accounting certification exams. We are not looking for generic AI writers. We are seeking qualified, detail-oriented Subject Matter Experts and structured content operators who can create technically accurate exam questions and map them into a strict database-ready template. This role requires both academic judgment and data discipline. The Reality of the Role Standard AI tools often fail at complex tax computations, multi-step accounting treatments, public-sector accounting rules, consolidation logic, audit judgment, and local statutory requirements. You may use AI as a drafting assistant, but you are the human subject-matter expert responsible for the final academic, mathematical, statutory, and formatting accuracy of every row you submit. Raw AI output will not be accepted. What You Will Do You will create and format professional exam multiple-choice questions inside our structured Question_Bank_Master template. Each question must be accurate, source-anchored, and database-ready. You will be expected to: Write both Legacy-style and Modern scenario-based questions Create technically accurate accounting, tax, audit, reporting, or public-sector questions Follow strict spreadsheet/database schema requirements Maintain exact formatting discipline Use specific source references Create realistic distractors based on common student errors Keep explanations concise, clear, and technically accurate Ensure each question has only one defensible correct answer Revise quickly when QA feedback is provided Question Types 1. Legacy-Style Questions These are traditional exam-style questions focused on: definitions statutory rules direct accounting treatments procedural knowledge mechanical calculations past-exam familiarity 2. Modern Scenario-Based Questions These are application-focused questions involving: realistic professional scenarios judgment-based reasoning multi-step calculations tax/accounting/audit decision-making interpretation of standards, laws, or examiner guidance Both question types are important. The required mix will depend on the assigned track. Source Anchoring Every question must be anchored to an approved source. You must be able to trace the question, correct answer, and explanation back to official or approved materials, such as: official study text exam syllabus past exam question examiner report accounting standard tax law / regulation approved instructional material Vague references such as “Study Text” or “Past Question” are not sufficient where a more specific reference is available. Preferred source reference examples: Public Sector Accounting Study Text — Chapter 11 Past Exam Paper — November 2024, Question 3 Advanced Taxation Study Text — Oil & Gas Taxation Chapter IPSAS 33 — First-Time Adoption of Accrual Basis IPSAS Finance Act — Relevant tax provision A question is not considered production-ready unless the source reference is specific enough for later QA, SME review, or audit. Distractor Strategy A strong question is not only about the correct answer. The incorrect answer options must also be carefully designed. Distractors must be realistic, exam-relevant, and based on common student mistakes. They should not be random, obviously wrong, or generated only to fill space. For calculation-based questions, distractors should reflect errors such as: applying the wrong tax rate using the wrong denominator omitting an allowable adjustment including a disallowed expense confusing accounting profit with taxable profit reversing a formula ignoring capital allowance treatment misapplying loss relief using the wrong reporting standard For theory or judgment-based questions, distractors should reflect common conceptual confusion, such as: confusing similar statutory provisions selecting the wrong accounting treatment applying the wrong reporting standard misunderstanding the role of a public-sector institution choosing a superficially correct but incomplete answer Every option should be plausible enough that a serious student must understand the concept to select the correct answer. Database and Formatting Requirements Every row must follow the provided template exactly. You must be comfortable working with: strict column structure required fields character-count limits topic and subtopic classification question type classification cognitive type classification difficulty rating remediation / concept tags source references unique question identifiers clean spreadsheet formatting If you cannot follow a structured spreadsheet template, this role will not be a good fit. Subject Areas Needed We are looking for contributors in one or more of the following areas: Public Sector Accounting and Finance Advanced Taxation Financial Reporting Corporate Reporting Audit and Assurance Advanced Audit and Assurance Performance Management Management Accounting Professional accounting exam content Please state your strongest subject area in your proposal. AI Use Policy AI-assisted drafting is allowed, but AI cannot replace your expertise. You may use AI to help with: drafting initial question structures improving wording brainstorming distractors formatting explanations generating scenario ideas from approved source material However, you must personally verify: every calculation every statutory rule every accounting treatment every correct answer every explanation every source reference You are responsible for the final quality of the submitted work. Requirements Mandatory: Strong accounting, tax, audit, reporting, or public-sector accounting knowledge Ability to work inside a strict Google Sheet template Strong attention to detail Ability to verify AI-assisted work against official sources Ability to write clear explanations and realistic distractors Good written English Strongly preferred: Accounting degree, tax, audit, finance, or professional exam-prep background Experience creating exam questions or educational content Familiarity with public-sector accounting, tax, reporting, or audit topics Experience with Google Sheets, structured templates, CSV files, or database-ready content Hiring Funnel — Paid Calibration Test We do not begin with large assignments. Selected candidates will start with a paid 20-question calibration test. Milestone 1: 5 questions for initial review. Milestone 2: remaining 15 questions only if Milestone 1 is accepted. The pilot batch must include a mix of Legacy-style and Modern scenario-based questions, with calculation-based questions where applicable. The test will be reviewed for: academic accuracy calculation accuracy source alignment distractor quality formatting compliance database readiness ability to follow instructions Only contributors who pass the full 20-question calibration may be considered for larger milestone-based production batches. How to Apply Generic proposals will be ignored. To confirm that you have read the requirements carefully, please begin your proposal with: Database Ready Then answer the following: What is your accounting, tax, audit, finance, or exam-prep background? What professional qualification or relevant academic background do you have? Which subject-matter track are you strongest in? Public Sector Accounting and Finance Advanced Taxation Financial Reporting Corporate Reporting Audit and Assurance Performance Management Other How do you use AI tools without relying on unverified AI output? How do you verify mathematical, statutory, or accounting accuracy before submission? Have you worked with Google Sheets, CSV files, database templates, or fixed-format content templates? Provide one sample MCQ in this format: Subject: Topic: Subtopic: Question type: Legacy or Modern Difficulty: Question: Option A: Option B: Option C: Option D: Correct answer: Explanation: Source reference: Important Please do not apply if you plan to submit raw AI-generated questions without source verification. We are looking for careful contributors who can combine subject-matter expertise, AI-assisted productivity, source verification, and database-ready execution.
