Tech PR / Earned-Media Specialist: Land In-Depth, Independent Press Coverage (Wiki-Notability Goal)

Summary

ABOUT US We're a web-data infrastructure company (proxies, web scraping, and data-collection tooling for businesses). We have a real product, real customers, and genuine market presence — but almost all of our online coverage is product reviews, "best proxy" listicles, comparison/affiliate sites, and startup-directory entries. What we DON'T have is independent, in-depth journalism about the company itself. We recently commissioned an assessment of our eligibility for an English-language encyclopedia article. The verdict: we sit in the "borderline / weak" notability band because we lack the sourcing the wiki requires under its notability rules for companies and organizations — multiple significant, independent, secondary sources that cover us AS A COMPANY in depth, not our products in passing. This engagement is about closing exactly that gap. THE PROBLEM (what's missing) • 0 in-depth feature sources about the company • 0 sources with 2+ substantial paragraphs about the company as the subject • What we have proves we exist — not that we're notable • Coverage is incidental: we're name-dropped alongside competitors in articles that are really about "the proxy market" or "web scraping," not about us WHAT YOU'LL DO 1. Develop credible news hooks and story angles — including data-driven PR built on our original research (we have a "State of Web Data" report and proprietary data), executive thought leadership, and market commentary. We don't have big funding/M&A news, so part of the job is manufacturing legitimate news, the honest way. 2. Build and work a targeted media list: tier-1 tech/business (e.g., TechCrunch, Forbes, Bloomberg, CNBC, Wired) plus serious industry/trade outlets. 3. Pitch and land in-depth, INDEPENDENT editorial coverage — company/market analysis, founder & leadership profiles, investigative or analytical features. 4. Earned media only. No sponsored posts, no paid placements, no PR-newswire spray — those don't count toward notability and can actively damage our case. 5. Track every result against the wiki's sourcing categories and report on what actually qualifies. DEFINITION OF DONE A realistic first-engagement target: secure [X] pieces of significant, independent, in-depth coverage in reliable outlets (a mix of tier-1 attempts and strong tier-2 / industry in-depth features) that plausibly satisfy the wiki's notability bar for companies. To be clear: we're hiring for the COVERAGE, not a "guaranteed wiki page." Anyone who promises a guaranteed page is an automatic no. OPTIONAL PHASE 2 Once we've cleared the notability bar, draft and submit a neutral, well-sourced article through the encyclopedia's standard review/submission process, with full paid-contributor disclosure. Tell us in your proposal if you can do this and how you handle disclosure. YOU'RE A FIT IF YOU HAVE • A track record landing EARNED media in tech/business/industry publications (share links to placements you personally secured) • B2B / SaaS / tech-infrastructure PR experience (bonus: data, cybersecurity, proxies/networking, dev tools) • Digital-PR / data-driven PR skills — turning research into stories reporters run • Real journalist relationships and a tailored-pitch approach (not mass blasts) • A working grasp of the wiki's rules: notability standards for companies and organizations, and reliable vs. deprecated/blacklisted sources WE'LL SCREEN OUT • "I guarantee a wiki page in X days" • Paid/sponsored content or newswire distribution dressed up as earned media • Undisclosed paid editing • Generic mass-pitch services and SEO link farms TO APPLY, PLEASE INCLUDE 1. 2–3 in-depth placements you PERSONALLY secured (links), ideally B2B/tech, with your specific role in landing each. 2. Your quick read on our most promising news hooks given we have no major funding/M&A news to lean on. 3. How you'd approach the company-notability sourcing gap specifically. 4. Proposed structure (retainer / per-placement / hybrid), timeline, and what's realistically achievable in 90 days. 5. Whether you also handle compliant encyclopedia drafting + submission (Phase 2). ENGAGEMENT ~3-month initial engagement with a clear 90-day coverage target and monthly reporting. [Budget: retainer $X/mo, or $Y per qualifying placement — edit to taste.] Strong performance → ongoing retainer.
