True Crime Researcher I FOIA & Police Bodycam Footage Expert

I need a researcher to source, request, and obtain official bodycam footage, interrogation room footage, and court records through FOIA and public records requests from government agencies across the United States. What You Will Be Doing Identifying cases that meet our content criteria, submitting FOIA and public records requests to the relevant agencies, following up on those requests, and delivering obtained footage and documents to our production team. Cases We Need Every case must have a paradox, the suspect's identity or profession makes their crime feel shocking or impossible. Examples: Brinks armored truck driver stealing from his own delivery route Bank teller stealing from customer deposits Pastor, doctor, teacher, or elected official caught committing a serious crime Elderly suspect arrested for a violent or calculated crime Named-brand employee using their access to steal from customers Case Qualification Checklist Only submit FOIA requests for cases that pass all of the following: Suspect has a shocking identity — elderly (70+), politician, judge, pastor, doctor, nurse, teacher, military, armored truck driver, bank teller, or named-brand employee Suspect behaves wrong on camera — laughs, smiles, lies confidently, or acts unbothered during a serious investigation Suspect is caught in at least two verifiable lies across separate interviews Case includes unexpected evidence — Fitbit, Apple Watch, Ring camera, GPS, internal truck cameras, bank transaction logs Victim is clearly innocent with a sympathetic life story Case is fully resolved — arrest made, charges filed, sentence known if possible Footage You Are Sourcing - Bodycam footage from initial response and arrest - Interrogation room footage — highest priority for every case - Surveillance or security camera footage - Court documents showing charges, conviction, and sentencing - Arrest records and booking information Where You Will Submit Requests - Individual law enforcement agency portals - State-specific public records portals - MuckRock.com for tracking and managing requests - PACER for federal court records - State court public record portals What You Deliver Per Case - All obtained footage files labeled and organized by source type - Court documents — charges, conviction, sentencing - Case summary — suspect name, identity, crime, exact dollar amount, dates - Evidence list from weakest to most damning Victim profile from official records Agency contact log — who you contacted, when, what was requested, current status Who This Role Is For - Direct experience submitting and managing FOIA requests across multiple states - Familiar with state-by-state public records laws and agency response timelines - Comfortable navigating PACER, MuckRock, and state court portals - Able to manage 5 to 10 active requests simultaneously - Can deliver 2 to 3 fully documented cases per week consistently
