Unity Developer - Short Incremental Game with a Digital Neon Aesthetic

Posted 4 weeks ago

Summary

I'm looking for an experienced Unity developer to build a short incremental game heavily inspired by Nodebuster (Steam). The game should be a close recreation of Nodebuster's core loop with a reskin and one new mechanic added on top. What the game is: A breach session incremental where the player's cursor auto-fires at geometric enemy shapes. Between sessions the player spends earned currency on a skill tree to grow more powerful. Sessions get progressively easier as upgrades compound. The game should be completable in around 3-4 hours. Design: All assets should follow a dark corrupted digital aesthetic: near-black background, neon cyan and red palette. Enemies are geometric data constructs (triangles, squares, pentagons, hexagons). Bloom and glow post-processing should be applied to match the digital style. The target style is clean, readable digital art with strong visual feedback similar in quality and clarity to modern incremental games. Main mechanic: A signal strength bar visible in the HUD that fills on kills and drains passively over time. If it empties the session ends early. Boss kills restore a large chunk of signal and drop a prestige point. The skill tree should include all the main upgrades with some variations and new additions. And ~3 upgrades specifically for signal drain rate and signal restored per kill. What I'm looking for: • Previous experience shipping incremental or idle games on Steam or mobile, or a passion for incremental games and a strong mathematical background. • Strong Unity 2D skills with URP post-processing experience • Clean, commented code delivered via GitHub • And most importantly someone who's able to provide valuable feedback in an iterative development cycle Deliverables: Full Unity project via GitHub and a Windows Steam-compatible build. I am looking to build a long-term working relationship with the right developer. If this goes well there will be more projects. Please share examples of relevant shipped work in your proposal. PLEASE INCLUDE • Any examples of games you've built, or related experiences • If you have any incremental/idle game experience • Unity experience • Your UI experience • Estimated development time
