Technical Artist specializing in Unreal Engine 5 performance optimization to join our open-world city project. The role requires hands-on expertise with UE5 World Partition, HLOD configuration using both Merge and Simplify methods, Hierarchical Instanced Static Meshes, and LOD pipeline automation. You must be proficient in diagnosing rendering issues through Unreal profiling tools including stat rhi, stat scenerendering, and profilegpu, and capable of resolving complex problems such as proxy geometry coexisting with source geometry in memory, draw calls increasing after HLOD implementation, and texture streaming pool saturation independently and without extensive guidance. You will work directly with our environment art team to implement a ring-based optimization strategy across a large-scale city map, covering HLOD cluster configuration, HISM component architecture, mip bias master material systems, and LOD group automation. Strong communication skills are essential as you will translate technical rendering decisions into clear direction for artists and explain performance tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders. Experience with large-scale urban environments in UE5 is strongly preferred.
