Job Title: Business Acquisition Researcher & Outreach Specialist (Remote) About Us: Vantum Capital is a Chicago-based investment firm actively seeking to acquire a small to mid-size business. We have financing in place and can close within 60 days of finding the right opportunity. We are serious, credible buyers ready to move quickly. Acquisition Criteria — This Is The Most Important Part: We are not industry-specific. We are looking for businesses that match a very specific financial and operational profile regardless of industry. The business MUST have: 10-20+ employees where the majority are doing repetitive, manual, administrative, or processing work Payroll/labor representing 40-60%+ of total operating expenses 1-2 senior people who own client relationships and drive revenue The remaining staff doing work that could theoretically be replaced by software, AI, or automation — things like data entry, document processing, filing, claims processing, billing, coding, record retrieval, report generation, correspondence, scheduling, or similar mechanical tasks Stable recurring or repeat revenue that does NOT depend on the admin staff — meaning if you replaced those staff with software, clients would stay Been operating successfully for 5+ years Owner motivated to sell or retire This is our core thesis: We buy businesses where we can replace manual administrative headcount with AI and automation, dramatically reducing costs and increasing profitability, then sell the improved business to a strategic buyer. Pricing — Two Scenarios: Scenario A — No Seller Financing: Purchase price: $1.5M - $3.5M Annual revenue: $1M - $5M EBITDA: $400k - $800k+ Scenario B — Seller Financing Available (seller willing to finance 20-30% of purchase price): Purchase price: up to $10M Annual revenue: $3M - $15M EBITDA: $800k - $2.5M+ When reaching out, always ask: "Is the seller open to seller financing?" Flag any deal where seller financing is available as a high priority regardless of size. Target Industries: We are interested in ANY professional service or administrative services business that fits the operational profile above. This includes but is not limited to: Medical billing / revenue cycle management firms Title search / abstracting companies Tax resolution / IRS representation firms Commercial property tax appeal firms Background screening / employment verification firms Registered agent / corporate compliance firms Mortgage post-closing / compliance firms Insurance certificate tracking / premium audit firms Court filing / legal process outsourcing firms Accounts payable / invoice processing outsourcing firms Payroll processing boutiques Insurance claims processing / third party administrators Benefits administration firms Environmental report processing firms Debt collection agencies Any other business where majority of staff do repetitive administrative or processing work We are NOT interested in: Restaurants, cafes, food service Retail stores of any kind Salons, spas, gyms, fitness studios Laundromats or cleaning businesses Construction or trade businesses Franchises Startups under 3 years old Businesses where the owner is the sole revenue generator Businesses requiring the buyer to hold a specialized professional license (law firm, CPA firm, medical practice) Businesses with revenue under $1M Where To Search: Search ALL of the following every day: BizBuySell.com BizQuest.com BusinessBroker.net Axial.net LoopNet.com (business opportunities section) MergerNetwork.com DealStream.com LinkedIn — search for business owners in target industries who may be open to selling HBMA.org (medical billing association directory) ALTA.org (title search association directory) NAEA.org (enrolled agents directory) PBSA.org (background screening association directory) Google searches: "[industry] company for sale" "[industry] business acquisition" "[industry] owner retiring" "[city] [industry] business for sale" Your Responsibilities: Search all platforms listed above daily for new listings matching our criteria Build and maintain a master spreadsheet tracking every potential target with: business name, industry, asking price, annual revenue, EBITDA/cash flow, number of employees, description of what employees do, location, contact name, email, phone, source URL, seller financing available yes/no, date contacted, response received yes/no Send outreach emails on behalf of Vantum Capital to business owners and brokers using the template provided below Follow up on non-responses after 5 business days with a single polite follow-up When financials are shared, add revenue, EBITDA, and payroll/labor expense to the spreadsheet Flag as HIGH PRIORITY any business where: payroll is 40%+ of total expenses, seller financing is available, or asking price is under 5x EBITDA Send a progress report every Friday summarizing: total outreach sent, responses received, NDAs signed, financials obtained, and top priority leads Final goal: deliver 15-20 qualified leads with financials within 6 weeks Outreach Email Template: Subject: Acquisition Inquiry — Confidential "Hello [Name], My name is [Your Name] and I am reaching out on behalf of Vantum Capital, a Chicago-based investment firm actively seeking to acquire an established business. We are specifically looking for professional services or administrative services businesses in the $1.5M-$10M purchase price range where the owner may be considering an exit. We have financing fully in place, are serious and credible buyers, and can move to close within 60 days of finding the right fit. [Your Name] On behalf of Samuel Rattner, CEO Vantum Capital" How To Evaluate Financials When Received: When a seller or broker shares financials, fill in the spreadsheet and flag as priority if ANY of the following are true: Total payroll and labor costs are 40%+ of total revenue Business has 10 or more employees Most employees appear to be doing administrative, processing, filing, data entry, or similar repetitive work based on job descriptions or business description Revenue is recurring, subscription, or contract-based Seller is open to financing part of the purchase price Owner is retiring or has a clear motivation to exit quickly Asking price is at or below 5x annual EBITDA Immediately email me the financials and flag the deal when any of these criteria are met. Do not wait for the weekly report. What A Perfect Deal Looks Like: To help you understand what we are looking for, here is an example of an ideal acquisition target: A medical billing company with $3M revenue, $700k EBITDA, 18 employees. Two senior account managers who own physician client relationships. Sixteen billing coders and claims processors doing manual data entry and claims submission. Owner is 62 years old and retiring. Asking $3.2M. Open to seller financing 20%. This is exactly what we want — flag immediately.
