Hello, I'm Catarina Garcia, a freelance fine artist, illustrator, graphic designer and visual arts teacher from Lisbon, Portugal. My main goal as an illustrator is to deliver quality work while doing the things I like most: drawing and painting. My main occupation is art, illustration and graphic design. * degree in Painting (5 years) and a Master in Drawing (2 years) from the Fine Arts Faculty of Lisbon. * specialization in Graphic design from a professional /technical school (ETIC, Lisbon, Portugal). * ongoing Master's Degree in Visual Arts Teaching (second year, Uni. Lusófona, Lisbon). My main creative skills are drawing, composition and color, but I tend to get noticed due to my line drawings (expressive, artistic, with relation to reality but with a creative touch). However, I'm also able to do realistic drawings / paintings if needed. My work is mostly done with traditional mediums but I also use digital mediums, especially for food and website illustrations. I use Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter for digital painting and Adobe Illustrator for Vector art. Types of art and illustration in my portfolio: - Fine Art This was where I started. I can paint realistically and abstractly. In acrylics and in oils. I can also use other kinds of materials for this job like colored pencils, felt pens, watercolors, graphite, pastels, crayons, etc. - Children's book illustrations I have two books and other smaller jobs published. Also personal projects developed. I love this area because i like to experiment and I'm open to create and develop new styles. I have done these mostly traditionally but can also do a mix of traditional and digital/only digital. - Editorial Illustration I have done several projects including illustrations for CD's, books, websites, etc. - Food illustration I have done lots of work within this subject, digitally or traditionally. - Scientific illustration I can develop scientific illustrations, especially botanical plates, archaeological illustrations and animal illustrations. - Fashion illustration This is the area that I'm still studying but I'm open to develop images like my dance drawings: full of energy and style. I'm very creative, resilient, curious and I love a good challenge. I'm open to work on jobs where I need to constantly learn new skills.
