I am Ahsan Raza, passionate and driven freelance cinematographer based in United Arab Emirates and Pakistan but often travels to other countries on the project basis.
Cinematography has been a passion of mine since childhood. I have always been fascinated by the art of storytelling through motion pictures and I have devoted much of my life to pursuing this passion. I have been passionate about cinematography for over 10 years and have accumulated more than 15,000 hours behind the camera. I am writing to recommend myself for any future projects your esteemed productions may have.
As a Cinematographer/Director of Photography, I am a painter of light, crafting vivid and evocative images that tell stories through visual language . Each project is an opportunity to explore the infinite possibilities of light, color, texture, camera language and to create a unique and unforgettable experience for the viewer. My approach to cinematography is both intuitive and technical, where I use my understanding of color theory and composition to create visually stunning shots. For me, the art of cinematography is a symphony of lights and darks, a romance between highlights and shadows that brings depth, dimension, and meaning to a scene.
I am fascinated by the interplay of light and emotion, and how the right combination of color, contrast and camera language can evoke a range of feelings from joy to sorrow, excitement to tranquility.
As a cinematographer recognized by the Tribune as the “Most sought after” in Pakistan, I have made significant contributions to the advancement of the country’s film industry. My work has been lauded with critical acclaim, as noted by the prestigious American Magazine The New Yorker, which described it as “glamorous stills,” and The Guardian, which praised it as “charming yet classical.” While these accolades are humbling, I maintain that I owe my success to my teams and our synergy together.
I believe that my attention to details, my use of light as a source of inspiration, and my collaboration with the artists and my team during production are all integral factors in success. Throughout my career, I have had the pleasure of working on many exciting and mega projects, including some of the most high-profile brands’ advertisements and most successful music videos, feature films, short films. I believe that the key to success is to stay passionate, curious, and open-minded, and I am constantly seeking out new challenges and opportunities. In the end, cinematography is more than just a job or a profession for me; it is a passion, a way of life, and means of the unimaginable expression.
