I design embedded electronics that make it to manufacturing/production.
10+ years of experience routinely designing custom electronics, embedded firmware, and control systems. My work spans the whole product lifecycle—from early breadboard prototypes and proof-of-concepts to production-conscious hardware with designs for manufacturing and assembly. I enjoy solving engineering problems that don't have an off-the-shelf solution. My goal is to build something that's reliable and manufacturable for you, and to work on anything new and interesting for me.
Recent work includes designing embedded control systems for commercial beverage equipment. It features custom PCBs, STM32-based HMIs, refrigerated dairy management, peristaltic pump control, industrial sensors, and Raspberry Pi & Arduino-based prototypes. Before that I was working on ultrasonic algae killers, and before that consumer appliances.
Most of my experience deals with motor/sensor integration and hardware/firmware built around real world problems. How can we build a modular single-family EV charging station that can accept multiple possible power inputs? How does our UI drive user inputs? How can we control 14 types of sensor data in a way that drives our motors logically? From large-scale automated greenhouse systems to a fantastic automated beverage experience, it all boils down to hardware/software interactions.
Many of my clients return for multiple prototype revisions and long-term product development because I strive to be more than a contractor—I aim to be a reliable engineering partner throughout the life of a project. My longest running current contract is over 2 years old.
Good engineering is about more than making a prototype function. Every design decision should consider manufacturability, reliability, cost, long-term component availability, serviceability, and future scalability as early as possible. I enjoy collaborating with clients early and often in the design process to avoid expensive redesigns later.
Whether you're starting with a sketch on a napkin, a breadboard prototype, or an existing design that needs refinement, I'd be happy to help bring your product to life.
