My main objective as a data analyst is to create a good model (Analysis Services – SSAS – database) to satisfy the questions of interest. This model must be optimal in storage and performance, which is why I always follow best practices to achieve this objective, in addition, I am aware of the new functionalities that arise to optimize this database. My profession is economist, and one of my distinctive features is analytical thinking and problem-solving when working. In each project, no matter how small it may be, I always include in the solution architecture the use of Dataflow, which is Power Query in the cloud, to separate the ETL part from the tabular model. It may also happen that you use Dataflow as a Staging layer. The transformations to be carried out will be carried out to reach the star model, and this will be designed from the requirements that the client has. That is to say, the project begins from "back to front" since it is the business questions that will design the data model, and thus avoid falling into the classic mistake of importing all the tables to power bi "just because". Along the same lines, as good practices, you should always import only the tables and columns that will be used in the dataset, and it will always be better to perform transformations as close to the origin as possible. In other words, Power Bi is a database optimized for rapid business response (SSAS), my role as a data analyst, is to optimize its storage and performance. This is achieved with the star schema model. With this methodology, I have worked with datasets that contain millions of rows. It can also be added for the performance of not only the dataset but also the refresh and the incremental update. Once the star model is created, the DAX metrics will be created, which makes the application and implementation of the code with said model much easier. To contrast the metrics made with DAX, I use SQL to query the databases, in addition, I have experience with several types of databases: SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL and SAP Hana. From the visual aspect, I usually use the Figma design tool, to improve the visual part that Power Bi comes with by default.
