A music teacher is a professional who educates students on topics such as the theory of music, musical composition, reading and writing sheet music, and playing specific instruments. The Job Overview

We are seeking a music teacher to bolster our online teaching presence. We currently provide lessons via Zoom, Skype, or other voice/video applications. Some students have requested additional services like feedback on pre-recorded sessions and additional information on music theory. 

An ideal fit for us would currently utilize Zoom, Loom, Trello, and Google Suite to collaborate with our other instructors and support staff. If these tools are new to you, but you fit all of our other requirements, we will still consider your application. Others who already have this familiarity may be given priority, however.

A solid understanding of the learning process and immersive teaching practice is a must-have. Our students often come to us with skepticism. We’re currently leading the industry for student satisfaction and retention. We’ve listed our requirements and expectations below. We look forward to hearing from you!

Responsibilities

Below are some of the responsibilities a music teacher is expected to undertake:  

  • Monitoring students’ learning progress
  • Adapting the lessons to suit the students’ needs 
  • Providing direct and honest feedback at pupils’ request
  • Charting the growth of pupils’ skills and capabilities until they have achieved mastery of the instrument
  • Teaching pupils about the theory of music

Job Qualifications and Skill Sets

Below are the qualifications expected of a music teacher:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a music-related field
  • Ability to play the guitar or other musical instruments
  • Ability to teach another person how to play the guitar
  • Reliable interpersonal skills for one-on-one music lessons
  • Deep understanding of music theory, music education, and general music
  • Functional knowledge of sheet music composition
  • Appropriate communication skills for elementary schools, high schools, or accredited colleges
