The problem, however, is APEX is rather easy to learn, but it's also easy to make a mess and to go about things the wrong way. You want a secure, scaleable, and most of all, supportable application. In my most recent work, I managed a team of junior developers, taught them APEX and guided them through the correct development process. For me, there are some fundemental issues to be addressed in any APEX project: - The application logic ought to reside in the database and not in the application - The application must enforce a solid user security model - All pages should have sub-second rendering - The application should make use of pre-established standards - APEX_DEBUG should be used to properly instrument all pl/sql code - Unless business logic demands it, declarative components should always be used for performance - Large applications are best divided into scalable modules - A proper development lifecycle should be employed - Reusability should never be sacrificed for business logic Please do let me know if you have any questions.
