Language is my super power! You've got a brilliant manuscript, right, full of amazing plot twists and magnificent characters, but you need someone to rip apart the grammar and (very kindly) point out all the plot holes that need plugging? I specialize in American English for science fiction, fantasy, and almost all subgenres therein. The two exceptions to that would be paranormal romance and military sci fi. Nothing against those genres, but they're just not for me, and you want an editor who is immersed in books just like yours all the freaking time. So what genres do I splash into with gusto? Space Opera, Epic Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, First Contact Stories, Steampunk, Paranormal Cozy, High Fantasy, Low Fantasy, Paranormal Women's Fiction, Dystopia, Space Western, Magical Realism, Comic Sci Fi, Comic Fantasy, Hard Sci Fi, Dark Fantasy, Soft Sci Fi, Fairy Tale Retellings, Slipstream, Superheroes, Zombies, and probably more that I can't think of off the top of my head. What's it like to work with me? I work quickly and efficiently and my style of direct-but-kind communication has left many authors feeling motivated and inspired. My goal is to help you make your book the best it can possibly be and to help you grow your skills as a storyteller. Ultimately, however, it is your book and I am merely a guide. As a person on the autism spectrum, I will read manuscripts written by non-autistic authors with autistic characters, and let you know what you got right, what you got wrong, what made me uncomfortable, and what made me feel seen. I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder as an adult, and will do best with characters who didn't grow up knowing they were autistic. That could be a character who still doesn't know but displays autistic traits or a character who suspects they may be autistic, as well as someone who has been diagnosed in adulthood. Please keep in mind that autism is a spectrum and that I will be evaluating based on my experience and the experience of others I know with the same diagnosis as me.
