My profile caught your eye because you need a React Native developer. Not native iOS, not Android, not Flutter. You have probably already done the math. One codebase instead of two. One team, not separate Swift and Kotlin hires. A product that ships to both stores at once. Half the cost, twice the speed. You are right. For most apps, and for almost every crypto app, that is the correct call. Native is the heavyweight option. You write the app twice, once in Swift for iOS and once in Kotlin for Android. Two codebases, two skill sets, two sets of bugs. You get the best raw speed and the earliest access to new OS features. You also pay for all of it, in money and in time. Most apps never touch the ceiling native buys you. Flutter gives you one codebase, written in Dart. It draws every pixel with its own engine, so the screens look sharp and animate well. The trouble starts at the edges. Crypto and Web3 live in JavaScript. Wallet libraries, chain SDKs, WalletConnect, all built for the web first. Flutter cannot call them directly. You write, test, and maintain extra bridge code for features a wallet needs on day one. React Native gives you one codebase too, written in JavaScript and TypeScript. The difference is what it can reach. It runs the same libraries your web dApp already uses. The same ethers and viem for contracts. The same WalletConnect for signing. No bridge, no translation layer, no waiting. React Native shines wherever the logic is shared with the web. Most of all in a crypto app, where that logic is the product. Leading wallets like Rainbow and Coinbase Wallet run on React Native for this exact reason. That reach is why I went React Native only. I spent years building crypto wallets and Web3 apps. The work kept pulling toward the same JavaScript tools. So I stopped splitting my focus. These days clients come to me for one thing. Wallets people can trust with their own keys. Self-custody, no seed phrase to lose, every transaction signed on the device. React Native is where that gets built, and it is what I build. I also build other mobile apps than crypto. Some clients come to me for everyday consumer apps too. Social, fitness, lifestyle. Building those apps taught me one word. Monetize. So I built every piece around of it. RevenueCat for selling in-app purchases and subscriptions. Stripe for card payments. Firebase for push notifications that bring users back. I built nearby search with react-native-maps for Wizapp, a People Nearby social app. Crypto apps rarely need any of this. They earn on-chain, through tokens and trading fees. Consumer apps live on it. A few of the apps I have shipped: - Dextoro: a Solana memecoin trading app with a self-custody wallet, no seed phrases, and gas-free one-tap trades. 4.7 stars from 75 App Store reviews. - Kelp: a self-custody Web3 wallet with a token-reward referral engine, live on both stores. - Synesis One: a Solana Train2Earn dApp where users earn SNS tokens for AI data-labeling tasks, each one wallet-signed on-chain. - Web3app Portfolio Tracker: one view for crypto, stocks, NFTs, and tokenized assets, with live prices and encrypted storage. Every one runs on a single React Native codebase across iOS and Android. Every one is on the App Store and Google Play, signed, reviewed, and live. The stack I reach for: React Native and Expo, TypeScript, Redux for state, Reanimated for motion, WalletConnect and chain SDKs for Web3. When a feature needs native speed, I write the bridge myself. I did exactly that on a 1,033-hour bridge project rated 5.0. The record backs the work. Top Rated Plus, 100% Job Success, 18,000 hours, 80 clients. Certified as an Anthropic Claude Architect, an Atlassian Expert. One client put it better than I can: ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "I have been working with Phung for just over a month and I have to say he is one of the most professional mobile developers I have worked with. He is very knowledgeable and definitely has the experience. He picked up two projects for additional updates, bug fixes, and prioritised both incredibly well. Will continue to work with him for as long as I have work with React Native." Tell me the app you want to build. A wallet, a trading app, a Web3 product that has to feel fast and get paid. I will tell you the shortest path to a build that is live on both stores. ๐Ÿ•› I work in UTC+7 and cover ANZ, Asia, and US hours.

What does a Redux for JavaScript developer do?

A Redux for JavaScript developer architects predictable state management systems for complex web applications. This specialist designs the central data store that governs how an application responds to user interactions and external events. They write pure functions called reducers to calculate new state values based on dispatched actions. This approach eliminates hidden side effects and makes debugging data flow issues straightforward for the entire engineering team.

  • Design the global state shape by defining action types and writing reducer functions that update the store immutably. The developer maps out every possible state transition to guarantee that the application behaves consistently under all conditions. They structure the data tree to minimize nesting and optimize lookup performance for connected components.
  • Configure the Redux store with necessary middleware to handle asynchronous operations and side effects. This work involves integrating tools like Redux Thunk or Redux Saga to manage API calls and background tasks without blocking the main thread. The developer sets up enhancers to connect the store with browser extensions for real-time state inspection and time-travel debugging.
  • Integrate the state management layer with the user interface using React-Redux bindings. They implement selector functions to extract specific slices of state and pass them as props to presentational components. The developer also wires up event handlers to dispatch actions when users click buttons or submit forms, ensuring the view stays synchronized with the underlying data model.
  • Write unit tests for reducers and middleware to verify that state updates follow the defined business logic. These tests confirm that specific actions produce the expected state changes without mutating the original data objects. The developer documents the data flow patterns and state rules to help other engineers understand how to extend the application safely.

How to hire a Redux for JavaScript developer on Upwork

Step 1: Post a job

Define your state management needs clearly to attract specialists who build predictable application architectures. Use the Job Post Generator powered by Umaโ„ข, Upwork's Mindful AI to draft a precise description in seconds. Describe your requirements in a few sentences and Uma drafts a job post tailored to this role. You can write a new post, update a saved draft, or reuse an existing post to start hiring immediately.

  • Specify that the freelancer must design Redux state shapes and write reducers that update state in response to dispatched actions.
  • Request experience with Redux Toolkit and middleware like Redux Thunk to handle async logic and side effects within the store.
  • Ask for examples of React-Redux integration code where the candidate connected UI components to the store using hooks like useSelector.

Step 2: Evaluate candidates

Look for portfolios that demonstrate clean separation between UI components and state logic. Uma can run instant video interviews and build shortlists with side-by-side comparisons to help you identify strong matches quickly.

  • Check for unit tests covering reducers and store behavior to verify the candidate writes testable and reliable Redux logic.
  • Review code samples showing proper use of actions to describe events and reducers to compute new state without mutations.
  • Confirm the candidate configures the store with appropriate enhancers and integrates Redux DevTools for debugging state changes.

Step 3: Interview your top choices

Discuss how the candidate structures complex state flows and manages data consistency across features. Schedule and conduct interviews within Upwork Messages to receive an immediate transcript and summary after each session.

  • Ask how they model app state and define actions to ensure the data flow remains predictable and easy to trace.
  • Discuss their approach to implementing async side effects using middleware and dispatching further actions as results occur.
  • Verify their ability to write selectors that read state efficiently from components without causing unnecessary re-renders.

Step 4: Agree on scope and begin work

Set clear milestones for store setup, middleware configuration, and component integration. Use Upwork Messages and the contract workroom for communication and project management while identity verification, payment protection, hourly tracking, and project funds secure the engagement.

  • Define deliverables such as the Redux store setup, reducer structure, and action creators for specific application features.
  • Require brief technical documentation that describes the Redux data flow and state update rules for future maintenance.
  • Establish testing criteria for reducers and middleware behavior to confirm the store functions correctly under various conditions.

Frequently asked questions

Is hiring a Redux for JavaScript developer worth it?

For most businesses, yes: hiring a Redux for JavaScript developer is worthwhile. This specialist structures complex application state so data flows predictably across your user interface. They prevent bugs that arise from scattered logic and make future feature additions faster to implement.

How do I evaluate Redux for JavaScript developer candidates?

Review how candidates structure actions and reducers to keep state updates pure and testable. Ask them to explain their approach to handling asynchronous side effects using middleware like Redux Thunk or Redux Saga. Look for clear examples where they connected React components to the store using hooks such as useSelector and useDispatch.

What is the difference between Redux and React Context?

Redux manages global state with a strict unidirectional data flow and dedicated debugging tools. React Context suits simpler prop drilling issues but lacks built-in middleware for complex async logic.

Do I need Redux Toolkit for my project?

Redux Toolkit simplifies store setup and reduces boilerplate code for most modern applications. It includes best practices like Immer for immutable updates and Redux Thunk for async actions by default.
