Summary

Overview We are a UK-based manufacturer of bespoke aluminium-framed internal glazed doors and screens. We own our own aluminium profile dies and have our own proprietary aluminium system, rather than manufacturing from a standard system house such as Schüco, Reynaers, AluK, etc. We are embarking on a long-term digital transformation project and are looking for an experienced Autodesk Inventor specialist to help us establish the foundations of a configurable product and manufacturing system. This is not simply a drafting project. We are looking for someone who understands configurable products, parametric modelling, Inventor iLogic, and how CAD can be used as part of a wider manufacturing automation workflow. Project Objectives Our long-term goal is to create a fully digital workflow that will allow us to: Generate customer approval drawings automatically Generate manufacturing drawings automatically Generate bills of materials (BOMs) Generate glass schedules Generate cut lists Generate CNC manufacturing data for an Elumatec SBZ118 CNC machining centre Integrate with Sage 200 Professional ERP Build an internal sales configurator We are therefore looking for someone who can help us build the Inventor foundation correctly from the outset. Current Product Range Our products are relatively straightforward and consist primarily of: Single aluminium glazed doors Double aluminium glazed doors Single glazed options Double glazed options Internal applications only We currently have approximately 35 aluminium profiles in our system, with around 4–5 primary profiles used within the door product range. Scope of Initial Phase The initial engagement is expected to include: 1. Profile Library Creation Create Autodesk Inventor models for our aluminium profiles from supplied CAD data. This will include: Parametric profile models Appropriate naming conventions Material assignment Profile metadata where appropriate 2. Product Assembly Creation Develop configurable assemblies for: Single doors Double doors Associated framing components Assemblies should be structured with future automation in mind. 3. Parameter Strategy Assist in developing a robust parameter structure for: Width Height Glazing type Handing Hardware configurations Future product variations 4. Inventor iLogic Development Develop iLogic rules that allow assemblies to be configured through parameter inputs. Examples may include: Automatic component resizing Glass size calculations Hardware selection logic Hinge quantity rules Drawing generation workflows 5. Drawing Automation Create drawing templates capable of automatically generating: Customer approval drawings Manufacturing drawings Elevations Plans Sections Exploded views Future Phases The successful candidate may continue working with us on future phases, including: Advanced iLogic development Configurator integration Inventor API automation BOM generation ERP integration (Sage 200) CNC workflow integration Digital manufacturing automation Required Experience Please only apply if you have demonstrable experience with: Autodesk Inventor Professional Inventor iLogic Parametric product modelling Assembly automation Automated drawing generation Highly Desirable Experience with any of the following would be advantageous: Manufacturing automation Product configurators CPQ systems Inventor API development ERP integrations CNC manufacturing workflows Aluminium fabrication Door, window or architectural metalwork systems To Apply Please provide: Examples of Inventor projects involving configurable products. Examples of iLogic implementations you have developed. Details of any manufacturing automation projects you have worked on. Your recommended approach for structuring a configurable aluminium door system in Inventor. Your availability and estimated hourly rate. We are looking for a long-term partner rather than simply a CAD draughtsperson and would welcome recommendations on best practice for building a scalable Inventor-based product configuration system.
