Job Overview We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented, and reliable Bookkeeper to join our growing plumbing company. In this long-term position, you will own our day-to-day financial operations, ensuring absolute accuracy in our numbers and helping us maintain a healthy cash flow. The ideal candidate has a strong grasp of financial reporting, is an expert in QuickBooks Online, and possesses the analytical skills to help guide our business decisions. As we expand, there will be significant opportunities for professional growth within the company. Key Responsibilities & Duties 1. Daily Financial Management & Reconciliation Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records using QuickBooks Online. Categorize daily expenses, truck stock/inventory purchases, and incoming revenue. Perform monthly bank, credit card, and merchant account reconciliations. 2. Accounts Payable (AP) & Accounts Receivable (AR) Manage the Accounts Payable process: verify vendor invoices, track purchase orders for plumbing parts/equipment, and schedule timely payments. Monitor Accounts Receivable: collaborate with our dispatch/service team to ensure customer invoices are generated correctly and follow up on outstanding balances. 3. Payroll Processing Accurately process weekly/bi-weekly payroll for field technicians and office staff. Track and calculate hourly wages, overtime, commissions, or performance-based bonuses unique to the plumbing trade. Ensure accurate tax withholdings and compliance with local, state, and federal payroll regulations. 4. Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including Profit & Loss (P&L) statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow reports. Provide clear insights into profit margins, job costing (analyzing the profitability of specific plumbing projects/services), and overhead expenses. Collaborate with the ownership team and our external CPA for year-end tax preparation. Job Requirements & Qualifications Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of full-charge bookkeeping experience. Industry Knowledge: Prior experience in the plumbing, HVAC, construction, or home services industry is highly preferred (understanding job costing is a massive plus). Software Mastery: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online is mandatory. Experience with industry-specific dispatch software (e.g., ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro) is a significant advantage. Skills: * Deep understanding of P&L management, cash flow forecasting, and general ledger functions. Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines (payroll, tax filings, vendor terms). Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
