Ongoing Remote Freelance Role | U.S.-Based Waxon Group is recruiting on behalf of a Los Angeles nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and rehoming dogs and cats from high-kill shelters. The organization recently relaunched its WordPress website and is looking for a freelance WordPress Website Coordinator to keep the site current, polished and performing well. Working closely with the nonprofit’s onsite marketing and social media team, you will create event and campaign pages, add new sections to current pages, post updates, manage embedded forms and third-party tools such as Zeffy and ShelterLuv, troubleshoot issues and improve the website experience across desktop and mobile. This role includes more than basic content updates. We need someone who can build polished pages, improve layout and usability within the existing site design, troubleshoot problems and make practical recommendations as part of their regular WordPress work. We are open to someone early in their career, including a recent graduate, but you must have hands-on experience building or managing live WordPress websites for real clients, organizations or community groups. Responsibilities - Create and update event, campaign, program and news pages - Format copy, images, forms and calls to action - Manage and troubleshoot embedded forms and third-party tools - Review and optimize pages across desktop and mobile - Diagnose layout, plugin, functionality and performance issues - Monitor analytics and recommend practical improvements - Identify tools and workflows that make website management more efficient - Communicate clearly and collaborate closely with the team Qualifications - Professional experience with live WordPress websites - Strong page-building and troubleshooting skills - Good visual judgment and attention to detail - A proactive, solutions-oriented approach - Reliable communication and follow-through - Comfort using analytics to inform decisions - Interest in AI, automation and workflow-improvement tools - Based in the United States This is an ongoing remote freelance role, typically requiring 5–8 hours per week depending on current projects, campaigns and website needs.
