# Automation Engineer / Business Process Automation Specialist About The Surgical Shop The Surgical Shop is a growing Durable Medical Equipment (DME) company serving both insurance and retail customers throughout the Tri-State area. With five locations, we work closely with doctors' offices, patients, insurance providers, inventory systems, shipping operations, and customer service teams to process orders and deliver medical products efficiently. In addition to our brick-and-mortar operations, we sell through major e-commerce marketplaces including Amazon and Walmart, creating a complex environment that requires integration across multiple software platforms, inventory systems, fulfillment processes, and customer touchpoints. Our goal is to streamline operations, reduce manual processes, improve data accuracy, and leverage automation across all areas of the business to support continued growth and operational excellence. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer / Business Process Automation Specialist to analyze our operations and identify opportunities to automate workflows, reduce manual tasks, and improve efficiency throughout the organization. The ideal candidate will have experience with business process automation, scripting, systems integration, workflow design, and automation technologies. Experience in healthcare, DME, insurance, or other regulated industries is a plus. Responsibilities • Review current business processes from start to finish • Map workflows and identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies • Recommend automation opportunities and implementation strategies • Design, develop, and maintain automated workflows and processes • Integrate software systems to reduce manual data entry and improve data flow • Create dashboards, reports, and operational metrics • Train staff on new automated workflows and tools • Document all processes, automations, and procedures • Collaborate with management and operational teams to improve efficiency across departments Technical Requirements Programming & Scripting • Python, PowerShell, Bash, or JavaScript for scripting • Experience with tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Chef for infrastructure automation RPA (Robotic Process Automation) • UiPath, Blue Prism, or Automation Anywhere • Ability to design, build, and maintain bots for repetitive business processes CI/CD & DevOps Automation • Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps • Experience automating build, test, and deployment pipelines ### Test Automation • Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress for UI testing • API testing tools such as Postman or REST Assured Industrial/Process Automation (if applicable) • PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley) • SCADA systems and HMI design Soft Skills & Experience • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities • Ability to document workflows and processes clearly • Experience working with cross-functional teams including IT, Operations, and QA • Strong understanding of business process mapping before automating • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities Qualifications • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field preferred • Certifications such as UiPath Certified Professional, Automation Anywhere Certified, AWS, Azure DevOps, or related certifications are a plus • 2–5+ years of hands-on automation experience depending on seniority level • Experience in healthcare, medical equipment, insurance, logistics, or regulated industries is advantageous
