WordPress Developer for Editorial Site

Summary

We run an established, high-traffic editorial content website and are looking for a reliable WordPress developer for ongoing, part-time-to-steady work. This is not a one-off build. We're continuously improving an existing theme — refining front-end templates, shipping new content types on the back end, and wiring the two together. We move quickly and value clean, maintainable work over clever shortcuts. What you'll do * Translate Figma designs into pixel-accurate, responsive WordPress templates that improve user engagement. * Implement front-end changes that support SEO and AI-answer visibility (AIO): semantic HTML, structured data / schema markup, clean heading hierarchy, Core Web Vitals / page-speed work. * Build new content types as custom post types and model their fields with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), including flexible content layouts and repeaters where appropriate. * Connect those ACF fields to the front end in template files so editors get the right output without touching code. * Maintain and extend the existing theme without breaking what already works. You should be strong in * PHP and the WordPress template hierarchy (theme development, not just page builders). * Advanced Custom Fields (Pro), custom post types, custom taxonomies. * Faithful Figma-to-HTML/CSS implementation; responsive, cross-browser, mobile-first. * Technical SEO fundamentals: schema/structured data, semantic markup, performance optimization. * Git-based workflow and writing code another developer can pick up later. Nice to have * Familiarity with high-traffic site performance (caching, asset optimization). * A sense for editorial/content-site UX. Engagement Ongoing relationship. Expect a steady stream of well-scoped tasks. Please share your weekly availability. To apply Tell us briefly: (1) one project where you took a Figma design to a live WordPress template and a problem you solved, and (2) one time you used ACF to build a new content type from scratch and surfaced it and a related problem you solved.
