Elite Trailer Editor & Sound Designer — Prestige Crime Drama (2 min)

Summary

I'm looking for a world-class trailer editor to cut and sound-design the launch trailer for a prestige series, a football story that turns into a crime epic. The bar is Hollywood: the rhythm, the restraint, the sound design that makes the hair on your arms stand up. Think the trailers that play before A24 and HBO premieres, not a YouTube highlight reel. If your instinct is to cut on the obvious beat, this isn't for you. This is a two-minute piece structured as a slow reveal. It opens like an underdog sports story and detonates into something darker. The whole thing lives or dies on pacing and sound. I need someone who understands that a trailer is a piece of music: the build, the drop-out, the single breath of silence before the title card. You should be able to find the cut points in the audio before you find them in the picture. Your role is the picture edit and a complete sound design and mix, including foley. A separate colorist handles the grade, so your focus is the cut and the sound, but I want both at the highest level. I want footsteps on dust, the thud of a struck ball, fabric, breath, the low end that lives under everything. Atmosphere built from the ground up, not stock stingers dropped on top. The score and a single voiceover line are the spine; everything else you build around them. If your sound design lifts the picture by two grades, that's the job. To apply, send me a reel of trailers you have personally cut, and tell me specifically which ones you also designed the sound for. I want to hear your sound work, not just see your edit. Generic showreels with someone else's audio will be passed over. Tell me in two or three sentences what you think makes a trailer land emotionally, in your own words. I work in stages. We'll start with a paid first section, one short segment of the trailer, fully cut and sound-designed, so we can confirm the chemistry and the craft before committing to the full two minutes. If it lands, the rest follows immediately, and there's a series behind it for the right person. I move fast, give precise direction, and expect the same precision back. NDA required before any footage is shared.
