Medical Credentialing Specialist — ABA Therapy Provider (California)

Project type: Ongoing / contract (open to part-time or per-provider basis) The Role: We're seeking an experienced medical credentialing specialist to manage provider enrollment and payer credentialing for our BCBAs and behavior technicians. You'll own the end-to-end credentialing process and keep us in good standing across commercial and government payers. Responsibilities • Complete initial credentialing and re-credentialing for clinical staff (BCBAs, BCaBAs, RBTs) • Manage CAQH profiles — set up, maintain, and re-attest • Submit and track payer enrollment applications (commercial, Medicaid/Medi-Cal, managed care organizations) • Handle payer-specific requirements for ABA/behavioral health • Track expirables (licenses, certifications, liability insurance) and manage timely renewals • Follow up with payers to resolve application delays and close out approvals • Maintain organized credentialing records and provide regular status updates • Assist with new payer contracting and group/facility enrollment as needed Requirements • 2+ years of medical credentialing experience, ideally in behavioral health or ABA Therapy • Direct experience with California payers and Medi-Cal enrollment • Proficiency with CAQH, PECOS, and payer portals • Strong understanding of ABA billing codes and behavioral health credentialing nuances (a plus) • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive about deadlines • Clear, responsive communication Nice to Have • Experience credentialing within California regional center / managed care frameworks • Familiarity with CentralReach or similar practice management systems
