Summary

We are looking for an experienced Robotics Engineer or Embedded Systems Developer to lead the complete design and development of an autonomous home cleaning robot. This is a full-cycle engineering project that includes electronic circuit design, embedded firmware development, robotic navigation, sensor integration, motor control, and system optimization. The robot will be designed to operate autonomously in residential environments, providing both vacuum cleaning and wet mopping while intelligently navigating around furniture, walls, pets, and other household obstacles. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience building real robotic systems from concept through production. Project Responsibilities You will be responsible for the complete hardware and software architecture, including: - Electronic circuit design and PCB development - Selection of microcontrollers and embedded processors - Motor driver design and control systems - Battery management system integration - Power distribution and charging circuit design - Embedded firmware development using C/C++ or similar languages - Sensor integration and calibration - Autonomous navigation algorithms - Obstacle detection and avoidance - Cleaning path optimization - Wireless communication (Wi-Fi or Bluetooth) - System testing, debugging, and performance optimization - Prototype validation and documentation Core Robot Features The robot should include the following capabilities: - Autonomous indoor navigation - Wet mopping functionality - Dust vacuum cleaning - Intelligent switching between cleaning modes - Front-facing obstacle detection system - Wall and furniture avoidance - Cliff and stair detection - Edge cleaning capability - Automatic room coverage with minimal overlap - Return-to-charging station when battery is low - Resume cleaning after charging - Real-time localization and mapping if applicable - Battery status monitoring - Water tank monitoring - Dust bin status detection - Emergency stop and safety protection Object Collection Feature One unique feature of this project is the ability for the robot to identify small scattered objects on the floor, such as toys or lightweight household items, and gently gather or push them toward a designated corner or collection area before continuing the cleaning process. The developer should propose an efficient mechanical and software solution to accomplish this task without damaging furniture or objects. Preferred Sensor Technologies Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable: - LiDAR - Depth cameras - RGB cameras - Ultrasonic sensors - Infrared sensors - Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors - IMU sensors - Wheel encoders - Optical flow sensors Preferred Technical Skills - Robotics engineering - Embedded systems development - PCB design using Altium, KiCad, Eagle, or similar tools - STM32, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, Jetson, or similar platforms - Motor control systems - Brushless and DC motor drivers - PID control - SLAM - Path planning algorithms - ROS or ROS2 - Computer vision - Sensor fusion - Embedded C/C++ - Python - RTOS - UART, SPI, I2C, CAN Bus - BLE and Wi-Fi communication - Battery management systems Deliverables The selected developer will be responsible for delivering: - Complete electronic schematic - PCB design files - Bill of Materials (BOM) - Embedded firmware source code - Hardware integration documentation - Robot control software - Navigation algorithms - Sensor calibration procedures - - Prototype testing reports - Manufacturing documentation - Complete project source files and documentation Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who has previously designed autonomous robots, robotic vacuum cleaners, AGVs, mobile robots, or other embedded robotic systems. Experience taking a product from concept through prototype and production is highly preferred. If you have a portfolio demonstrating robotics, embedded hardware, autonomous navigation, sensor integration, or firmware development, please include relevant project examples along with your proposal.
