If invited, prior Upwork Foundation grant recipients must submit a separate application to be considered for additional grant opportunities.
We strive to provide feedback to every organization that is invited by The Upwork Foundation to apply for a grant; however, due to an overwhelming number of applicants, we may be unable to provide individualized feedback. We are continually working towards improving our processes to better serve applying organizations.
Please contact us to learn more.
We fund a relatively small cohort (6-15) of organizations each year. To increase the likelihood that nonprofits who invest time in our full application have a higher likelihood of success (we aim to support one in three applicants), we proactively identify and invite only the organizations whose work very closely aligns with our annual funding focus.
The Upwork Foundation supports organizations globally with a focus on initiatives that expand access to economic opportunity in developing countries as well as low-income and marginalized communities.
We encourage you to follow The Upwork Foundation’s website and blog to get updates about future funding priorities. We typically announce our annual grant-making focus area in April, open applications in May or June, and make funding decisions between September and December.
